Sulfamethoxazole is listed as an inhibitor of bacterial synthesis of folic acid, used in the treatment of malaria, chancroid, and trachoma. Trimethoprim is listed as interfering with bacterial biosynthesis of nucleic acids and proteins and is used in the treatment of pnemonia, diarrhea, and bronchitis.
