Side Effect, 25mg Toplep

My mother was put on Toplet 25mg at night after having spent a number of days in hospital complaining from sever pain in her head and body. The test results showed an infection in her bones and that her kidneys are not fully functional. I would like to know if this medication can cause her to have muscle spams, where her body parts move involentarily as well as head aches and terrible mood swings. She also has a sudden bad hearing loss problem and is completely on the attack all the time. She is also totally of balance, cannot walk straight and feels very ill. Can this medication be the cause of the above symptoms?

Yes, this contains the active ingredient Topiramate, which is an anticonvulsant and it has been reported by the FDA to cause all of the symptoms you've described.

They are, however, very rare and it means that this most likely isn't the right mediation for her to take. She needs to see her doctor immediately to switch to something else.
