If there are no markings on the tablet itself, then it is not a legal US prescription drug. All prescription medications manufactured in the US, in pill form, are required by law to have uniqe identifying markers on them. They don't have to look the same as the name brands did at all, but they must have a marking on them. If there is no marking, it is either an over the counter supplement, vitamin, other med, or something from a foreign country that does not fall under the FDA US laws for prescription drugs.

As to not seeing something before, well you can't always go by that, once that proprietary patent is up and other companies can start making a drug, there are no rules or laws as to how they have to look, neither in color or shape. The manufacturer may make it look however they wish, and since there are hundreds, maybe thousands of generic companies out there, you can get a pretty wide range of tablets that all contain the same active ingredient.

They do have to vary the imprint according to dosage, to make that identifiable as well, but that is it, so it is possible there are many version of Diazepam out there, all looking different, with different markings, made by different companies, that you have never seen before.
