Ritalin Pill Differences - Imprints Of T 175 And Dan 20
UpdatedMy daughter gets prescribed 20mgs of Ritalin instant release (Dan 20) 3 times a day. I had to go to a different pharmacy and they gave me a yellow pill round with T 175 on one side. Is this the same thing? It doesn't seem to be working as well!!!

Yes, it is also a generic for Ritalin, it contains 20mgs of Methylphenidate. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, insomnia, and anorexia.
Has there been any change, or is she still having a problem with it? Is she on any other medications?
Thank you and Yes she takes 0.1 mg of clonidine mood stablizer and it also helps her sleep at night

My son's generic IR Ritalin was changed to Camber pharmaceuticals generic, and we are finding that it doesn't work for him AT ALL. This bouncing around of generics at the pharmacy is extremely frustrating. Our choice is to either find which generics are better (Watson? I don't know...) or pay huge amounts of money for brand Ritalin that won't be covered by insurance.
Re: schleppenheimer (# 4)
I was getting the 20mg instant release made by Actavis and they worked great. Then I moved and changed pharmacy's and the next month got the yellow ones from Camber and OMG I was so pissed because I would take them and fall asleep or nothing would happen at all. I swear that that brand sucks so bad that they are like sugar pills, no joke. I was so pissed cause I paid 125 for them cause I was having trouble with my insurance. It's cool to see it's not just me. I don't know where you are at but here in the Bay area (CA) walgreens carries Actavis brand meds. The 20 mg ir ones are pinkish/redish/orangish and say Dan and 20 under that on one side and 5884 on the other side.
Yes, I think the pill that says T/175 actually IS the same thing -- the Camber pharmaceuticals. I'm fairly sure, as another poster has said, that Activis brand is better. Camber pharmaceutical version of Ritalin seems to be awful. Try and get a different brand from your doctor until you find one that works as it should.

Yes! I’m dealing with the same thing right now! Sandoz had the BEST yellow one. Thinking that was the one I was getting I left with it. Never again. The camber one is just awful.

Please!
Regardles of the physical manufacturers; methylphenidate is still going to be methylphenidate at the end of the day. Whilst there is a change (onset, duration ie),of an Immediate Release vs Extended Release; the overall rate at which side effects are more or less prominent and/or the "effect" that the medication is not working at the same rate, could be due to a variety of factors.
Excipients, fillers & binders, along with other "in-active" added ingredients, do in fact alter the bio availability of the actual drug, and although these ingredients are required to be listed, the AMOUNT of these ingredients in each product is not required to be listed. Excipients, allow the drug to be stabilized, to be taken in various dosage forms, while binders hold a medication together, as well as providing added weight. The active component of a drug cannot be made and put into a tablet or capsule form without a stabilizing agent to help keep it active, and there are numerous agents used.
A larger and growing concern, is with the use of certain excipients and fillers used in pharmaceuticals. The problem is these ingredients may, and do effect the mechanism of the physical medicinal ingredient (active ingredient ie. Ritalin or methylphenidate in your scenario)
So what it comes down to is essentially yes, different generic drugs could cause different side effects along with more/less of the active ingredient being properly absorbed; as well as any other prescription drugs, otc medicines, and/or vitamins that are additionally used. Best of luck and certainly hope things improve.
Re: Moto Mark (# 5)
Let’s be honest here. Are you abusing them? Otherwise, there should be no difference whatsoever.
Re: Moto Mark (# 5)
Are you still taking the Actavis 20mg instant release & it is it working well for you? I will see if my pharmacy carries Actavis. If you have any other manufacturer recommendations let me know. Thank you!
I just got a few round yellow pills with T 175 imprinted on one side. I was supposed to get some orange 30mg adderall. I've had a script of adderall for 5 yrs.these came from a so called friend. What are the yellow ones compared to the Addy? Anyone help?

How do you know there is no difference? Have you used them?
