Ritalin Identification

what do the numbers mean imprinted on the tablet? I take 20 mg 3xday of ritalin slow release. just wondering what those numbers indicate?

The numbers on tablets provide a unique imprint code that enables the medication to be identified in case of emergency.

When looking up the imprint code in the databases, it needs to be able to tell you what the active ingredient is in them, what the dosage is and who the manufacturer is.

That way if, for instance, someone is found unconscious with loose pills laying beside them, someone can check to see what they are and they would have a better idea of the possible treatments necessary for a reaction to the medication, or for an overdose.

This also means that if there is a recall, only the specific pills involved have to be pulled from the pharmacy shelves.
