Ritalin Vs Adderall

Updated

Please advise. My grandson is 9 years old and has been diagnosed with ADHD. He's on ritalin but his parents only give it to him when he's in school. Should they keep him on it year-round? He is not controllable when he's not taking it.

These medications really do work best, when taken continuously, as prescribed.

However, the final decision on that is up to the parents and the child's doctor.

Have they said why they don't give it to him, when he isn't in school?

They may just want to avoid some of the possible side effects, such as the anorexia and insomnia that it can cause.

I was just put on ritalin for lack of motivation and depression. I also take xanax, zoloft and zyprexa.
What is the difference between adderall and ritalin?
