Right Dosage

I had a total thyroidectomy a little over a year ago followed by radioactive iodine just to be sure it was all dead and gone. Before my thyroid cancer I was in pretty good shape as I am a college athlete. Since the surgery I have gained 20 to 30 pounds. People said once I got my tsh levels right I would lose the weight but I only stopped gaining, not losing. My doctor sais they are where they need to be and I am done going up but I do not feel much better than I did before. I still have the fatigue, constipation, extreme heartburn, and brain fog. Is this permanent or are my levels really off and just not showing? HELP! I'm still in college and my grades are really taking a hit from all this!

Well, you did not say what dosage you were on and this site is not medical professionals, so we could not decide what is best for you, anyway.

That said, some of what you are experiencing could be side effects from the medication itself.

Levothyroxine can cause: fatigue, peripheral edema, nervousness, insomnia and increase appetite.
