Reversal For Hair Loss. (Top voted first)

I have been taking Eliquis for a year now. Major hair loss. I am 65. Female. You can see my scalp all over. I am so self conscious I am embarrassed to even go to church. I need to take some kind of blood thinner for irregular heartbeat. Can't tolerate aspirin. I wonder if lower dosage would make a difference. I take 5mg twice a day.

I just switched from xeralto to eliquis because of terrible hair loss. I may have went from 1 to another medicine for no reason. Oh my!

Hello, Marion! How are you doing? I am so sorry about what you're experiencing, I have to say that I would be just as embarrassed.

Perhaps you could wear a hat, or bonnet to church, for now?

As to a remedy for the situation, the hair loss is usually reversible, once you stop taking the medication, according to the NIH, so you may want to speak to your doctor about trying a different blood thinner.

Are you on any other medications?

Hi Janet. I was switched today from Eliquis to Xarelto because of severe hair loss. Now have been reading that for a number of older women Xarelto also causes severe hair loss. Maybe I just need to continue with Eliquis. My hair has gotten so thin I want to cry. My scalp is showing all over.it believe they both contain the same ??? something that causes hair loss!
