Results Of Taking Generic Carb Entacap Versus Stalevo (Top voted first)

Could the efficacy of the generic carb/entacap tab levo 125mg be different than the brand name Stalevo for treating Parkinson's? It seems that the generic form is not as effective at controlling tremors as Stalevo 125 mg.

Hi Trisha,

Certain "inactive" ingredients that may or may not be present in each brand, are actually detrimental to how the drug is metabolized and used by your body. Because everyone is different, your body may agree with one medication over the other, due to how you feel or based on whatever side effects present themselves.

When you switch brand names or generics, the drug itself doesn't change, but rather the binders or fillers that they put with it.

I hope this helps shed some light on why one may not be as efficient as the other, despite being the same drug! Hopefully you are able to get back on the one that works best. I find it odd that doctors or pharmacists don't inform patients of this, since it really does have an impact on how good it works.

I've switched back and forth between generic and brand stalevo two times since the generic became available and noticed my symptoms worsened with the generic. The second time I switched back sure enough I gradually improved with regards to symptoms - mainly tremor and stiffness.
