Restarting Levothyroxine 75 Mcg After A 4 Month Stoppage.

I was told by a primary doctor on in May that I no longer need to take Levothyroxine 75 mcg. Having taken it for 5+ years, I was all too happy not to take a pill I thought I really didn't need anymore anyway. That doctor also switched my depression meds from Prozac to Wellbutren to control the sleepiness and weight gain I was experiencing. That way May 2014. Its' now mid September and I am in full remission of major depression. I am writing because my new insurance plan (bkz of a new job) and new primary doctor advised I get back on Levothyroxine 75 mcg and wrote me a Rx today. My question to you is: Should I go from 0 to 75 mcg overnight? The doctor didn't clarify this. After reading the side effects I am a worried about over-dosage and side effects and thought I should gradually build up my dosage again. How should I get back on Levothyroxine 75 mcg again? I have enough to deal with and don't want to get worse if I can help it. Please help and Thanks!

Hello, Amy! How are you?

Regarding your new doctor, did they actually check your TSH levels, or did they just look at your records and tell you to start taking it, again?

That is what I would base it on, without having results showing what your levels are, so you know whether or not its needed, it's not a good idea to just jump into taking it.
