Respridal, Ritalin, And Metadate

Is it safe to mix metadate, ritalin and respridal? My sons dr. had him on all three at once and he was like a zombie, so I stopped guving them to him.

Have you consulted his doctor?

There are no interactions listed between using them together, however, the problem was probably caused by the Risiperdal. It is a very potent antipsychotic and is well known to cause extreme sedation in some people, especially at higher dosages.

What dose was he on?

He was on 3mg of respridal. He gained an extreme amount of weight and even developed breast, which I thought were a result of the weight gain. After he was off the respridal he lost the weight but he still has breast tissue, even after exercise nothing changed. I just recently found out he has to have surgury to remove the extra breast tissue. He gets teased alot about this and has really developed low self esteem. I'm so stressed out about this situation idk what to do.

The development of breast tissue has been known to happen in some boys, when they take Risperdal and it is a very potent medication, so the 3mgs a day was a pretty high dosage. Many people start off with a quarter, or a half of a mg.
