Respitory Infection And Back Pain

Updated January 22, 2016

I have had at least five attacks of sudden excrutiating lower back pain during the last two years and my doctor says it isn'y a slipped disc but a problem with the soft tissue. Each attack takes about a week to get better. Oddly, before each attack I have had headaches, sneezing and a chronic sore throat. Is it possible that there is a connection?

Hello, Hazel! How are you feeling? I'm sorry about the problems that you're having.

As reported by the NIH, yes, there could be a connection. Sometimes severe coughing and sneezing can stress your diaphragm, which may cause those types of symptoms. Sometimes, severe coughing or sneezing can even cause bruised or cracked ribs.

Are you on any medications? Do you suffer from allergies?
