Repeated False-positive Urinalysis

A little more than a year ago I had to change Suboxone doctors. Up to that time, the only problem I ever had was simply being able to pee in that cup. However, the drug screen from my first new patient appointment popped positive for Methadone.

Yes, I am an opioid addict. Yes, I was (and still am) a Suboxone patient. No, I have never in my life taken even a dose of methadone. Not illegally or legally. I am very detail oriented with meds. I can tell you the imprints and/or design on any med I take. I can't even tell you for sure what form Methadone is (I've heard both liquid and pill but not sure).

Obviously a new doc isn't going to take my word for this matter, so I had to wait 9 days to get prescription while urine was sent off to lab. Sure enough it comes back clean... no methadone. This was the first time the doc had this happen and first for me.

Then I go to my usual appointment yesterday, give the urine sample and again, it pops positive for Methadone. In case it's a faulty test, she asks me to repeat. Again, shows positive. Still, I have never taken Methadone. With the fact that I've been a patient for a year with no other issues, she's willing to send prescription for long enough to get lab results back. Regardless, this makes no sense to me!

Other than the Suboxone, I take two other RX meds and a few OTC. But only Suboxone and Synthroid (for hypothyroidism) are everyday medications. I can't even intelligently fault the test because she said I'm the only one that it happens with.

I work my ass off to do what I need to do in life now. I work just as hard to keep my word when I give it and if I give someone information, by God it's the truth. Otherwise you'll get some version of "it's none of your business" if it's info I don't want to share. So being put in a situation that I don't understand and can't find a logical explanation for is driving me nuts.

One of my kids was getting upset that the doctor wouldn't just take my word on it. But I explained to her that I am an addict, with two drug screens showing positive for something an addict might abuse. I don't expect her to believe me. In her shoes, I wouldn't believe me. Yet that fact does nothing to lessen the frustration of the situation!

The full extent of meds/supplements are:
Suboxone 8mg/2mg Film x 3 per day;
Synthroid 75 mcg Tablet x 1 per day;
*Celexa (Citalopram) 40 mg tablet x 1 per day for 1 week prior to period;
*Claritin (Loratadine) 10 mg tab x 1 per day;
*Stacker2 B12 Energy Shot Extreme 30 mL x 3 per day;
*Stacker 3 XPLC "Diet & Energy" Supplement apx 450 mg capsule x 3 per day;
*Ibuprofen 800 mg tab x 3 per day (if needed);
*Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) 250 mg tab x 2 per day (if needed) {Yes, dose is correct, started high dose after last sinus infection landed me in CCU as swelling & inflammation threatened airway; but still only used when sinus issues flare up}

(*=Not regularly taken every day)

I'd really appreciate info/opinion/suggestions from anyone with info on similar situation or knowledge of strange false positives. I don't know that I mentioned this before, but everything I may take is all known to my Suboxone doc!

I am also on subs and prescribed vyvanse. I was on zubsolv bc of insurance but it is basically the same as sub. Anyways, I went to my sub doctor and he said I was positive for heroin or fentanyl, cocaine, and my urine was faked at my other appt. I’m so sad I seriously have never done heroin or fentanyl in my life. I was taking lortab pills during active addiction but haven’t had an opiate in over 5 years and even longer for cocaine use. What is going on here? I was a patient in a diff outpatient group 2 years ago and had a positive test for cocaine and I truly did not use cocaine. This doesn’t make sense and no one believes me but I need to figure out what happened.

He said that my urine was adulterated too bc at my last appt I guess there wasn’t enough urine, but I just couldn’t pee anymore. I didn’t know that would happen tho. So they asked me to pee again before I left so I had like 4 paper cups of water in the waiting room and after about 20 mins I was able to pee again. (I don’t know if this matters but I rarely drink water normally but did bc that’s all I had to choose from and I was trying to make myself pee for them). So that sample apparently didn’t show heroin, fentanyl or coke but was too diluted and didn’t have creatine he said. I don’t know what this means but I do know I’ve only taken my prescribed meds and honestly used my real pee both times. Wtf

This is insane. I seriously haven’t used drugs and feel like since the cocaine result has occurred 2xs there has to be something making this happen with my prescribed medications maybe?

I’m upset. I hate this. It’s not true and no one believes me. I feel like I’m going crazy but I know I haven’t done those drugs, some of them ever in my life!
