Remedy For Methamphetamine Sores

Is there an over the counter remedy for methamphetamine sores? I have been sober going on two weeks after using for 5 months. I want the sores on my legs gone. I would pick where they couldn't be seen. Now I wanna wear dresses and shorts. Advice please.

Hello! Kaykay! How are you doing? Kudos for becoming sober, that's very hard to do.

As to the sores, are they scars, scabs, or still open sores? The proper solution depends on the state they are in.

For instance, according to the NIH, scars might require microdermabrasion by a dermatologist, or a special scar treatment ointment, which can help them to fade and be less visible. Some people have very good luck with them and get rid of their scars entirely. Open sores, or scabs, are just going to take time to heal, so they should be kept clean and allowed to get some air, to promote healing. If any are infected, you may need to see your doctor for an antibiotic. Some people have developed very large sores that required skin grafts.

If they are small sores and welts, you might be able to wear what you want, anyway, and if someone asks about them, or says something, you could tell them you were out talking a walk, you didn't know there was a stagnant pond nearby, and accidentally ended up in a cloud of mosquitos. The sores were caused by scratching, because you were so itchy. If you're going with this, you could even get a bottle of Calamine lotion and dab it on them, so it looks like you need to stop the itching of mosquito bites.

Another idea, if they are scabbed over, you might be able to cover them with makeup, I've done that, before, when I experienced contact dermatitis on my face. It prevents them from being so visible, unless someone looks very close. Heavy cream foundations, or a highlighting palette usually work the best to cover something up, that's why celebrity makeup artists use them.

With either of the last two options, just make sure to gently wash it off, when you're at home, so they get some air. It's what my doctor told me to do, when I had makeup on to cover the dermatitis on my face.

And, of course, there is always the none of your business option. You don't actually owe anyone an explanation for them, at all.
