Refilling My Valid Xanax Prescription Early (Page 4) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI only see one doctor and he gives me a 3 month supply of xanax. When I went the last time he wrote me out a prescription but I still had two refills. I had a friend and her husband passed away and I gave her some of mine thinking I would have no problem re-filling the prescription. I had sense enough not to go to the same pharmacy and not to give my insurance information. So I go to this small drug store by my house and I had to fill out paperwork such as dob, name and my DL #. Well they paged me to the front of the store and advised me that it was 7 days to early for them to re-fill. So my question is where can I go to re-fill a prescription that is valid written by the same doctor. I only tried one place, I'm guessing they must have a data base if you try and refill your prescription early (even without your insurance) does anyone have advice on where I can go to get this filled?
Most places are being forced to use a database now for any narcotic. Even little mom and pop stores have to call in and check. Sure it makes it so people can't get more than one bottle at a time but it also makes it so your nervous each month not knowing if the pharmacy will give you a hard time. I used to go to
Walgreens for years and my prescription has been the same all of that time. But one day early this year I went to get my refill since it was 29 days they told me they couldn't give it to me until the next day which I would have had to take off of work if I wanted my medication in the morning. I made them call my Dr and he had to up my dosage in order for them to fill it a day early. He told me to go elsewhere and I have been using CVS ever since. There are still a few stores not using the data base but it's probably not a good idea to ask or they will double check.
Hydrocodone combnation prescriptions are only a Schedule II in New York State. They will be Schedule II everywhere later on in 2014. All states have prescription monitoring programs. Everything is entered into the database when you get a rx filled and a pharmacist has to check the database before filling any rx. Some states have laws where a dr has to also check the database before writting certain rxs.
sappier sorry about spelling your name wrong, just keep the one Walgreens gave you cuz it's a legal re-fill, and when it is time to fill your new re-fill then do that, but don't risk trying to go else where, because with the new FDA law all pharmacy's have your name on file even if you haven't been there, I found that out when I was in good with my dr so keep the one you have and try and wean off the way your Dr wanted you to in the first place, and when it is time, then get your new one, good luck I still need to find a Dr and to any one here who says there Dr, just cut them off even if you had a contract with him, he legally has to give you a 30 day supply and a letter telling you he can no longer treat you, so that gives you only 30 days to find some one and that's hard and I am scared if he did let you go you then he is just saying its, too early that's all call when they are 3 days to be due your ins. will pay for 3 days early that's the normal time to re-fill, good luck.
U.S. government & Xanax:
1. Dr. gives U script. (You are a PATIENT needing care.)
2. Dr. does not tell you about the harm.
3. After so much time, Xanax takes over Gaba production in your brain. When you withdraw, you got no GABA and you become sick, sicker ...
4. You require more xanax as tolerance set in and your body and the X still aren't providing your body w/gaba.
5. You've crossed the line. YOU are not a patient. YOU ARE AN IMMORAL DRUG-SEEKING ADDICT.
The UK, AU, NZ: these countries use the term VICTIM; not addict. They've established centers much like the U.S. offers methadone clinics to H addicts. That's OK in the US -- hitting the meth clinic.
It is not OK to require --- medically and physically REQUIRE --- an increase in your script (U.S.A.).
AS FOR BENZOS, where you've been duped into your so-called addiction, you do not rec'v kindness afforded to PATIENT.
CUZ WE ARE THROWAWAY PPL. The USA will NEVER help us since such an act would STOP ppl from taking X and cost rich people money.
Better the addicts learn that this drug is a drug of living death.
MY CHOICES NOW: Zero. I can remain in the comfort of daily use/wdrl, which is a life not worth living. I can stop X and like before, live a life of 24/7 WDRL for five years. (This after taking it 10 yrs at only .5mg/daily.
Its Federal & State Laws. My Xanax costs $2 for 90 2 mg bars. Insurance has nothing to do with this?
It's all in your name - Cash or Insurance won't matter .most pharmacies will refill at about 28 days on a 30 day supply.
Your name and meds are tracked by a Program used for all scheduled meds,
Don't share them no matter how good the intention is. Ask for an early refill again and you might lose the script you have.
These days everything is connected to a universal system that can pretty much track when where and how many of anything you get filled in the US so happy hunting and next time just wait the extra few days because nobody lets anything go through early unless you're at death's door and they even question that.
Educate yourself, opiates are not the only controlled substancx There are different classes of controlled substances. Xanax is a controlled substance and even though u have a script and the insurance will cover it, the pharmacy still has the right to make u wait the entire 30 days. Bulls*** if u ask me as my pharmacist is not my dr. Last time I checked.... Only way around it(in Illinois) is to call your dr abd see if they will pre authorize it early. My script is written 1 -2 as needed . Dr verbally ok'd me to take an extra one if needed. Best advice is to ask the dr to write script differently!! I have been on xanwx for 8yrs and it iI horrible that the pharmacy things they r drs. Now
@Lisane
You live Pill by Pill and the doctor if you call him will authorize another pill? That is weird? I would ask the Doctor to double or increase my dosage if possible? After all this is Xanax we are talking about and can make you sick if you stop!
Effective Jan 1, 2014, all state medicaid programs have to cover benzodiazepines.
My advice is to get off period .My doctor switched me to Klonopin Im down to less then 1 mg a day and getting ready to jump. I only have trace elements left in me so doesnt even come up on UA's. I was on for over ten years when my mom & brother died he increased it when my other brother died he increased it again so i was taking 120 bars a month & i got down to 1 mg in 6 weeks 1/4 mg per week. Then o switched to Klonopin I started at 3 mgs for 1 day then 2 mg's for about 2 weeks or more then I started the 1/4mg taper . With the half life being 36 hours i did have to go thru some sleepless flu like nights but nothing horrible. I dont know what to expect when i completely jump But my therapists say it shouldn't be so bad mostly physcological
there is nothing you can do the FDA has all pharmacy's hooked up and no matter where you go they will find out its over you have no choice even if you went to another little town they would have it on computer
The guy you told to shut up was trying to help you. I just read the laws on the FDA and DEA site. YOU are being watched. We all are. You could have gotten in serious trouble for giving your meds out if that person got hurt is the biggest to stand out in my mind. Even though you got a new scrip, it's the same med, and they all know you have 7 days left. By going to different pharmacies, and filling out your private information you are what they call Pharmacy Hopping... You have to wait the 7 days or 4 days to pay cash. It was nice to help your friend, but in doing so you put yourself in a position that you really don't want to be in. No paranoia. FACT. The DEA and FDA have their hands so far up the Dr's and Pharmacies asses they could not help you if they wanted to. It's so outrageous for the FDA and DEA to be all over legal medication, why? Because they can't get a handle on the Meth problem so they screw with those who are in legitimate pain? Then we have the asses that are selling their medications so those of us doing what WE ARE SUPPOSE TO. We get screwed. Even if you want to go out of town you have to get permission! Your life is not your life any longer as long as your are bound and tied by a prescription. I tried to fill on a Friday, my brother in law has terminal cancer, so we could visit far away. I had to wait till Sunday to take the trip, pharmacy refused to fill. The worst pharmacy by far is WALGREENS....
Prescription Monitoring Programs which track your prescriptions are state based, not federal. You need to check your state laws regarding what and when the info is entered into the database. If a state law has a med on a stricter schedule that federal law does, state law is the one that is gone by. Not all state laws restrict paying cash for early refills. All laws governing this are also in your state laws. Many of the PMP are linking to the states around them and not just the state they're in.
Xanax, opiates(narcotics) are both considered a controlled substance and yes there is a database in place that tracks every time you fill and refill your prescription. I am definitely not one to preach on how bad it is to share your prescription medications (I have my own demons) but those who have said on here not to share are absolutely correct! Xanax is dangerous just because you may be used to taking them does not mean your friend is. Having been there as others would agree is not something I would wish on my worst enemy.
It's a different dosage so your insurance should cover it!
I sympathize with you, if you file a police report as a personal bag stolen along with other misc. Items is your best bet.I know it's alot of work and I probably wouldn't do it.But you ask for advice it's a avenue that is more to get you there. Also to those who post on here that don't offer advice just a moral grand stand of your way .F**k off.so a friend gave a friend something to help, If it helps great, the drug industry has no morals if they deny you meds prescribe d , if you run short everybody double doses on occasion, the name I chose is part of the jest of this reply.....
It is extremely hard to overdose strictly on benzo's alone unless you takes extreme high dosages! Overdoses in regards to benzo's are usually due to other illegal or prescription narcotics mixed with it such as opiates, coke, alcohol!
sorry all drug stores are not connected, I know for a fact, If you go to a Walgreen's then all Walgreens are connected, if you go to a Fred Meyer they are all connected, and Albertsons are all connected, but all of them are not one, Just same name stores. try a little mom and pop pharmacy, they usually don't have the computers that big chain stores do good luck
oh brother roger you are really full of yourself. lol it is bad to give some one your medicine but one or two pills wont hurt any one, I would be more concerned about sharing heart or blood pressure meds then a few Xanax get a clue and don't be so stuffy
