Refill For Oxycodone 15mg I Live In Sc But Moving To Ocala Fla. Options? (Top voted first)
UpdatedHello all! I live in SC and my Pain Mgmt. Doctor prescribes me 15mg Oxycodone to be refilled on the 1st of every month. I found out recently through a bone scan that cancer may be in my tibia (Leg bone) I say "May" because I am focusing on positive outcome before I see an Oncologist. Anyway, I am moving to Ocala Florida to live with my sister this coming Saturday (June I5th) I began calling pharmacies to get the lowest price (As I do here in SC) and discovered that in Fla they will NOT refill my script since it is from an out of state doctor. :-/ It will be at least a month before I can get in to see a pain doctor in Fla. I called the pharmacy here in SC and asked if I brought in the script could they mail it to me since its an 11 hour drive one way back to SC. He suggested calling my doc. to see if she can write it for this week instead. I spoke to the nurse who answers my doctors calls (She is ALWAYS a B*TCH) Sorry, there is no other word to describe her mannerisms. She said that according to state law the Doctor cannot change the date to sooner. So, I asked her to have the doctor call me personally, I am waiting. Any suggestions? I DO NOT want to go into detox again, it nearly killed me last time when I ran out (had to take more b/c of kidney problems and ended up in the ER.)

Hello, Annah! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having.
However, what you've been told is correct. There have been stricter regulations put in place to try to get a better control of the supply of narcotics in the U.S.
Pharmacies are restricted in how much they can order and stock each month, so they have to restrict to only filling for local customers, they also have to be able to verify the prescription, so the doctor must be local.
And the doctor isn't supposed to be writing one dated for another time, either.
This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
I wish I had better news for you, but unfortunately, I don't. These regulations have been causing hassles for everyone all over the U.S.
Does anyone else have any ideas?
Good Luck in Florida. I moved to Ocala FL about 18 months ago and still have not found a good doctor who isn't afraid to write a script for this pain drug. They all think you are there to get the medication to sell it. They treat you like a drug dealer as soon as you enter the office.
