Reducing Vimpat Dosage

I have been on vimpat, 150 mg twice per day since October and felt like a zombie and always tired. My doc recently reduced vimpat to 100 mg twice per day. I felt better and seem to over due my activities because today I woke up totally exhausted and slept all day. Has anyone felt totally exhausted when reducing vimpat? If yes, how long does it last?

Yes, that can be a normal withdrawal effect, when you stop a medication, or lower your dosage. You may also experience nausea, fever, chills, and pain.

It may take several weeks for things to balance back out, if they don't, then you should consult your doctor.

Is this the only medication you are currently taking?

Yes, I am only on vimpat. For 15 years I was misdiagnosed as having MS and 6 months ago, after being hospitalised in an academic health center, the medical team reviewed years of medical charts and decided I was misdiagnosed and suffer from nocturnal seizures (epilepsy). That is where I am now. Years of damaging medications and seizures that impaired my cognitive skills.

My wife has been on this Vimpat medication for more than two years now. She is taking 200mg twice a day. She has not had a seizure since she started taking it. Can she stop taking it or cut the dose in half? Thanks.
