Reducing Simvastatin Dosage

What exactly is the harm or danger if I were to reduce my daily Simvastatin dosage from 10 to 5 mg?
I have been taking it for several years. I am 80. My total cholesterol is 156; LDL 64 and HDL 39 at last reading a year ago.
I have recently lost 17 pounds -184 to 167- through eating less and healthily, and daily exercise. I feel fine.

You should double check with your doctor, before reducing the dosage, but there shouldn't really be any harm in it.

The problem usually arises if someone just stops taking it abruptly, because that can cause a rebound effect that may elevate their cholesterol levels too much.
