Reduced Libido On Venlafaxine

Hi, this is my second time trying Effexor. I was on it for several years a while ago, but went off as I got to the highest dose and it still stopped working after a while. Since then I've tried several other drugs to very little improvement, as well as ECT and rTMS, neither worked. Of course I've tried counselling and CBT, and mindfulness as well, but my brain is not even in a place where I can begin to implement those things. So, I believe that the Effexor is beginning to possibly help. I haven't had a major low in a few days, I'm actually able to push myself a little to do some stuff. I even tidied up a bit! First time I've really been able to do that in 6 months. Major problem though... most of the side effects I'm getting are deal-with-able, dry mouth, etc. But my libido has shot WAY down. My poor hubbie, who has been a literal life saver for 16 years of marriage, especially these last 6 months, gets very little in return for his efforts. And now, I not only feel nothing good when he touches me romantically, I actually feel nauseous, like it's inappropriate and almost gross. I feel so bad for him, but I don't know what to do. I love him so much, but I can't stand that sick feeling either. I had this to a degree last time, but not nearly this bad.

I am very sorry about the problem you're experiencing.

The reduced libido can be a normal side effect of most antidepressant according to FDA reports.

However, the nausea and repugnance at his touch really isn't and is likely something you should speak to your doctor about.

Other typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth.

Is this the only medication you're currently taking?

Thanks for the reply, I also take zoplicone at night to sleep, unfortunately lately I've been having to take it nightly or I don't sleep at all.
