Recently Prescribed Adderall 10mg Ir

I've recently been prescribed Adderall by my family doctor, 10mg IR once a day. I'm a week in and noticed very little if any real benefit. I'm leary of going back and talking to her because I know so many abuse it and don't want to appear like a drug seeker. Should I wait for my next month follow up or do you think a phone call would be appropriate. I noticed some very mild improvements but they quickly subsided a couple hours in and left me slightly tired. It seems slightly counterproductive to take them when I'm left worse off than I started. I'm not comfortable increasing my own dose even tho I know many take much higher doses several times a day. I'm not sure what to do about the doctor or my dose. I've never taken a medicine that lasted an entire day and I work 14 hour days. I've read not to intake any acidic foods so I know it's not that. Any advise? Btw I'm in my mid 30's and have never taken any medication like this.

It would actually be best to give it a few weeks, say 3 or 4, for your body to adjust and see how well it's going to work for you, before speaking to your doctor about possibly raising the dose. While they do have some effect immediately, it can take awhile for them to reach their full efficacy level in your body and for you to know how much they'll really help you.

The FDA classifies this medication as a stimulant and lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, weight loss and insomnia.
