Recent Struggles While Being On Accutane

I started accutane last month and have been on it for 26 days, the first week I was on it it cleared my face up almost completely, in the past week or so my acne has gotten worse, there's more, and different kinds, I've never had a problem with blackheads until now. My skin is so dry and my lips are cracked and hurt so bad, the corner of my lips cracked so now it hurts to eat or open my mouth too wide. They say these symptoms are normal but it's been really hard on me, I'm feeling even more self conscious about my skin now than before I started this medicine, I don't really wanna be seen. I hope it gets better like they say. I just wanna know if anyone else is dealing with or has dealt with this and how long these symptoms lasted for.

Hello, Kassidy! How are you?

I've never taken it, so I can't answer from that perspective, however, I can tell you that those types of side effects are normal and it may take a month, or so, before they start to improve.

If not, or if they worsen, then you should consult your doctor.

Other side effects of this medication may possibly include nausea, joint pain, abdominal pain and blurred vision.

Can anyone that's taken this chime in?
