Hello, I've been on ramipril for approx 18 years. First 5 mg, then 10 mg; 5 in the a.m. & 5 in the p.m. (When they switched me to generic, 5 mg once a day was just not enough.) For the past few years, I've had a tickling cough at night, so I usually take a cough drop at bedtime so it doesn't wake me up as I doze off to sleep. Do you think this is caused by the Ramipril? Also, can ramipril cause hair loss?

Are you on any other medications?
As to your questions, yes the U.S. FDA warns that it has been known to cause both issues as side effects, in some people that take it. You may also experience dizziness, headache, increased urination, and orthostatic hypotension.
Have you informed your doctor? You may need to try a different medication.
