Ramipril Blue & White Capsule 10 Mg Now Purple & White (Top voted first)
UpdatedHave been taking Ramipril (Altace) 10mg for probably 10 years and they have ALWAYS been white and BLUE capsules. Last week when I renewed this prescription, they were white and PURPLE. I phoned the pharmacist, and he said they were ok, that these were from a company in Israel.
Don't know if this brand has caused a bad sinus / cold like infection? With news lately about counterfeit drugs on the market, it has me wondering.
Have you heard of this?

No replies yet. Does anyone know where I could have this new PURPLE and white capsule investigated to see if it actually has the same ingredients as the previous BLUE and white capsules? I am in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Are there any markings on the capsule?
This information is what would enable us to check what they contain, because the color doesn't actually mean anything, that is entirely up to the whit and whim of the manufacturer.
If you can post back with the markings that are on it, I will gladly research it for you and see what I can find out about it.

RANBAXY R-10
RANBAXY is on the purple side, and R-10 on the white side
Paul, I can't find any information on capsules with this marking, however, it seems that Ranbaxy did receive approval from the FDA to sell Ramipril in both 5 and 10mgs in the U.S. and this marking does follow their usual imprint formula, which is their company name, then an initial for the drug (an R, in this case) and a number to designate the dosage.
I can't say with any certainty that these are Ramipril, all I can say is they are approved manufacturers and this fits their usual imprint formula.
If it has caused your problems, I'd suggest contacting your doctor about it. You can also ask the pharmacy if they can order the prior capsules you were getting.

Are there any other questions?
Thanks Verwon. I wrote to Ranbaxy Canada, and they assured me that Health Canada had approved these capsules, as well as the FDA.
As far as the side effects I mentioned in my first post, it's cleared up, so I guess they weren't actually side effects.
Thanks again for your reply.
Interesting - I have had the same concerns, following a renewed prescription yielding purple and white capsules a week ago. This was followed with mild yet increasing symptoms of nausea, sinus and flu-like symptoms, and now increasing headaches which I rarely get. - Thus my search leading to these postings.
I am so glad I have found someone else with this same problem..my ramipril has been changed to these new tablets too.24hours after taking this new tablet,I have had severe stomach pains and very loose stools and feel very nauseous..
