Hi, I have had Avascular Necrosis, and Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (stage 4). I have implanted Pain pump that infuses the medication directly into the Spinal Fluid. Over the past several years, I developed extremely "violent" itching. This itching leads to bruising in very large areas. I am also on Coumadin, currently 3mgs a day. I had two bouts with BiPulmonary Embolism(s) back in 1995-1996. I have been prescribed Atarax, Benedryl, and Allegra; all for this itching. I have used virtually OTC cream, spray, and additional Benedryl when I "flare up. This itch is driving me NUTS, and has gone through the same frustration of everything NOT working. I do have a "laundry list" of Meds, as well, other Medical problems that were diagnosed after my knee surgery. I need someone to help! My Pharmacist has gone through everyone of my meds to look for any possibility of this reaction, "No", again.

Hello, Joeylee! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having.
What medication is in your pain pump? Many narcotics can cause itching as a side effect. So you could be having a reaction to it. Other side effects as listed by the FDA may include dizziness, drowsiness and headache.
What are you other medications? If you can also post back with them, I'll dig into the detailed information on them, I may be able to find something that your pharmacist missed.
