Ra And Plaquenil

I have been on Plaquenil 200mg 2x daily almost 3 months. I have RA and have gained weight, feel swollen all over and look like I have aged over night. Has anyone else had some of these side effects. I also crave carbs all the time. Dr told me to be on it for at least 6 months before I may notice any relief. thanks for any help you can give me

Hello, Debbie! How are you? I'm sorry about the problems that you're having.

The weight gain is unusual, because this medication is listed by the FDA as usually causing the opposite, it's even been known to cause anorexia, in some people that take it.

The looking as if you've aged can occur, because it can cause various side effects that may make it seem like that, such as a bleached out or higher hair color, muscular effects, hair loss and vision problems.

Is anyone else taking this and, if so, can you chime in?
