Question On Prescription

I have been prescribed Norco 10/325 for my pain management by my doctor for about a year. I was recently in a car accident and hospitalized for 2 days. The doctor in charge increased my dosage on my discharge papers to 2 pills every 6 hours as needed for pain, telling me to use my current meds instead of giving me a new script. I contacted my doctor, (and faxed her my discharge orders) knowing this would make me run out before an authorized refill. She wrote a new script for the same meds, and contacted my pharmacy for approval. My insurance obviously wouldn't cover the same script early, so she wrote a new script for oxycodone 10/325...these are too strong, or something in them makes me extremely nauseous. The Pharmacy still had my script for hydro on file (the one the insurance wouldn't cover), and it's now within the time frame they would cover it. Can I now get that filled without any repercussions? Or should I contact my doctor again? This is a rheumatologist by the way. Thank you.

Hello, Bg! How are you?

You should be able to go back to your Norco and your insurance should cover it, now. However, it may make things easier to talk to your doctor first, so she can make sure the pharmacy knows that you're going back to it due to the nausea from the other. That way that same information on the change would be relayed to your insurance company.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Is there anything else I can help with?
