Question About Topamax

I took Topamax for a few months, it made me completely stupid. I work in an OR so I was out of work till I was able to concentrate. Now I can do things but some things I have to relearn again. Has anyone else had this problem? How long did it last? Will I go back to normal? Any feed back would be appreciated.

The FDA does warn that you should consult your doctor immediately, if you experience a slowing of mental activity, confusion, trouble concentrating, and memory problems.

Generally, they do tend to wear off with time, but it depends on how long you were taking it, how much you were taking, and whether or not it was the medication that caused the problem. Have you had yourself checked out by a physician to see if there is anything else going on?

I know you work in an ER, but unfortunately, as I am well aware, sometimes those of us in a medical type of field are the worst at not wanting to see a doctor, when we should. My husband is a great example of this. LOL

I went to my doc. His reply was "well there are a lot of other meds I could put you on but I want you in this". Then he talked about raising the dose. Him and I got into and I left. I started taking myself off the meds. Not being in the right mind I had to figure this out and I took myself off the meds. I only took it a few months and had got up to 100mg. Was just wondering if anyone else had the same problem
