Quantity Changed. After 7 Years (Top voted first)
UpdatedSince 1-2007 I have been taken 10mg lortab--180 monthly.
Quantity received this month were 10mg lortab--140 monthly.
Very upset! My health has not improved. Actually there are times
where pain meds do not do the job. Mostly when it rains or when it's cold
outside. My doctor is aware of this. I finally informed her.
This has been months ago, so thinking this has nothing to do with lower
quantity.
Having been afraid to complain about periodical pain increases.
Figure doctor would take me off meds.
I have tried to adjust to dose, but this is just stressing me out.
Which causes my fibromyalgia to flair worse, More pain....
My tests have always been fine. No illegal or non-written drugs in system.
Do not know what to do, or where I stand.???

Hello, Sallie06! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain.
Actually, your doctor's hands are tied. Due to new regulations that were put in place, this medication has been changed, as of early this month, to a schedule 2 drug. Thus, your doctor can only prescribe a certain maximum amount to you each month. Exceptions are only made for someone that has intractable pain from a possibly fatal condition, such as stage 4 cancer.
This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
You should, however, let your doctor know that it isn't handling your pain. It is completely normal to build a tolerance to such medications, after taking them for a long period of time and for them to not work as well for you. Needing to change your dosage or switch to a different medication is completely normal and something your doctor expects.
Is there anything else I can help with?
The new script says take 1-2 every 6 hours as needed. Which would max out at 240 a month. Previously older script said take 1-2 every 8 hours as needed. Maxing out at 180 a month. So confused I called the pharmacy. She did not understand as well. Saying the way the script was written, seemed to be for 17 days. I had sent 2 emails to the clinic. My primary doctor had not replied to either one. Thinking an in-house pharmacist replied? Left a message for the patient advocate.
Have you heard anything back, yet?
