No, this is an antibiotic that is used to treat various types of bacterial infections, however, herpes is caused by a virus, so an antibiotic will not help with it.
The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea.
There are antivirals that can help lessen the frequency of your outbreaks, so you may want to consult your doctor about trying one.
Are you on any other medications? It is not common to experience monthly outbreaks, without some sort of trigger.
