Prucalopride Makes Me Very Hungry All The Time (Page 2)
UpdatedIs anyone taking prucalopride resolor? Im just worried because since i started it four months ago, i feel very hungry all the time even 10-15 minutes after a meal. Is anyone using having the same experience? help
I've been on prucalopride for 10 weeks now and have had a good result, going to the toilet easily every 4 days without fail but lately its becoming longer in between evacuation. I too have hunger pangs but only eat at mealtimes and have gained 5 pounds . I have been told i can increase my dose to 4mg. Has anybody else been told this? As according to the info leaflet there's no evidence to say an increased dose will do any good.
How long do you need to take prucalopride for? If you finish all your dosages within the month can you still go to the bathroom after even if you don't take the medication?
Hello all out there who are having a problem with an increased appetite on prucalopride. I can only suggest that as one who has suffered with a bowel not working correctly I had no appetite. why because I was impacted up to the eye balls even though I had daily small bowel movements. once the Prucalopride starts to take effect on the bowel and helps with the transition one begins to clear out the faeces so bringing back the appetite as one is no longer full of faeces. if impacted to the point it is pushing and putting pressure on the stomach it makes it difficult to have an appetite and eat well. also impaction can cause headaches and has even caused an increase in toxicity causing aggression and confusion. headaches caused due to the use of Prucalopride may possibly be counteracted by drinking water due to the fact that if the medication has caused diarrhea then headaches may be caused by dehydration. Look on the NICE site for more information and also the information that is not included on the medication information sheet including any trials.
Not sure if this helps but I've been taking resotran for the past two years. For me it's been a life saving medication. I have not experienced hunger, usually only headaches but it's more infrequent and I don't notice them anymore as I take 2mg before bed at night. Works like clockwork every morning. I suffered for 25 years with chronic constipation and severe pain. My quality of life was in the toilet. I saw countless gastro specialists who wouldn't take me seriously. It took 25 years until I received genetic testing and was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy. Suddenly a new gastroenterologist who didn't even question me because of that diagnosis. He prescribed resotran and my quality of life in this regard has improved immensely. I know and fully comprehend the suffering you are all in. Please give this medication a try and drinks lots of water and eat good quality fruits and veggies. Cut out the white carbs or other constipating food. I pray you have relief like me.
Yes I am experiencing the same. I want to eat all day long. I could eat a whole packrt of biscuits. I have some other wierd things going on also including memory loss?
Hi Beatrice. I began taking resolar around 6 weeks ago now and have noticed that certain days I'm constantly hungry but not all the time. I haven't put on any weight since I've began taking the drug. Maybe talk to your gp if you are worried but I suppose it's better to be hungry then having the awful pain bloatedness and cramps.
I've began experiencing palpitations lately so I'm concerned that this is a side effec. My gp isn't too worried though but it's becoming a bit of a pain.
It took me about three weeks on proculapride before it started working. Now finally I poo normally don't have as much wind and no bloating! Thinking about it maybe I am more hungry than before, but having said that I have been exercising more so it could be that. I had read all sorts of nasty things about this drug but have to say I am pleasantly surprised and very happy to take it.
I started on pucalopride a week ago ,but I have no appetite so I feel there is nothing to poo out ,and I am still getting severe abdominal pain any one had this problem.
Hi I have been suffering with cc for 4 years. I am on resolor 2mg. Nothing really seems to help me I recently was prescribed ducolax medicine that helped me a little. I tend to get a lot of overflow. I swell very badley. The other month I was constant vomiting because I was that compacted. As I came of all my medication as I was sick of messing my self with the overflow.
Hi. I have been taking Prucalopride (resolor) for already 4 months. It increases the feeling of hunger. Well, I had no hunger before, since my Colon is so swollen that my stomach has been pushed up and reduced to almost no space. It has helped with the chronic constipation, but it has increased the migranes. I stopped taking it about 2 weeks ago. My constipation is back. More severe than before. additionally I have a very bad smell and taste in my mouth about 2 or 3 hours after eating something. It does not matter what it is what I eat. I am not sure if my intestines are now "addicted" to the medicine, but since I cannot eat a lot (no emptying of the intestines), I have lost 5 kilos in 2 weeks. I might start to take the medicine again, so I do not loose more weight, but I am not sure that the medicine is not worsening my nerves or muscle function by over stimulation.
I have always had problems with CC but also with registering hunger. This is apparently linked as my system is sluggish my stomach doesn't empty properly and so I never get hungry until it is too late (crashing). Since I've been on this med I've suddenly started to get hungry ! This is actually great!.. And yes my stomach gurgles, but that is because my digestive system is working and I'm not used to it. It has been a huge relief, no more bloated stomach, no more painful abdomen and back. And yes, eating when I am supposed to. It has meant I have put on some weight and I am going to have to manage that. But now that I am eating better I will be able to exercise too without extreme fatigue. This medication has given me great hope for the future.
I'm 25, female whit chronic constipation. Resotran is very helpful.... But I also feel very hungry. I didn't realize until the second week. I eat really well (like VERY well) and I took 5 lbs, my pants doesn't fit well (I'm short 4'11''). I don't know what to do cause it's the only drugs that makes me go to the bathroom.
Did someone try to take an other drugs to reduce appetite ? Like Topamax ?
Pardon my english, I'm french canadian :)
When you gained weight on the scale, did you notice your clothes tighter? Could it just be water weight?
As soon as I take a Resolor 2ml tablet, how long does it take for it to work?
Are GI Doctors in Canada prescribing Resotran for Males now too or is it only Females?
Also, has anybody taken this with an extremely spastic colon? My Intestines don't work right. Extreme pain with every Bowel movement, things get trapped half way out, stool and gas and sometimes it goes into Spasms so severe that I wind up throwing up too. Throwing up is happening a lot more often lately. Bowels are an every day thing.
My GI said to give it 60 days, and for me it started to work at ~45 days.
Are you still taking it? What was your diagnosis. I have slow colon transit
Hi Vicky,
I never had an official diagnosis. My GI just said my whole GI system was slow. My main symptom was to have very severe bloating abdominal pain ~1x week lasting for 5-7 hours. I had 1 week with some diarrhea, but for last month fairly normal BM & no pain.
Hi Carole. Gabrielle here . took this tablet at ten o clock. Had a large motion which came like a bullet 2 hrs ltr. It went on and on and on. Noons mentioned weight gain to me. No way can I afford weight gain. I'm worried about taking this now . it seems so strong. My son went into the bathroom after me and it looked like world war 2 had taken place. The mortification of it. I'm so upset.
