I have fibromyalgia. The fatigue was so horrible....it seemed I stayed in bed all of the time. I could not have a life. My doctor prescribed Provigil for me. The results were amazing. I was able to get up out of bed and actually have a life again. No side affects at all...
My dr wont give me adderall for my cfs and fibro. Provigil isnt working. Anyone with any ideas?
i have fms also the pain clinic was giving me adderall xr for my daytimesleepiness then took me off due to it might cause heat problems i think they just didnt want me to have it anymore! they gave me provigil 200 one a day (200 mg) it does not help and is extremely expensive my co-pay is 50.00 i want the adderall back but now i have mitral valve prolaps so dont no now. i also take methadone for my pain. any ideas? also how much provigil can a person have a day? yikes my copay will be outrageous!
I've been on 200mg of Provigil since spring of last year when I was diagnosed with Sleep apnea and FMS and it has helped me tremendously to stay alert and functioning. I'm not sure about the claim it helps with pain reduction, however, at this point, being able to function normally is the best thing!
I learned that I would need to run an 'experiment' to see if a medicine was helpful by using it for at least 30-45 days, then taking myself off it for 4-6 days and then resume as prescribed. In the cases I tried this theory on, the Provigil=I NEEDED to resume by the 3rd day to avoid the CFS and inability to function. Two other med's prescribed for depression that work on pain at lower doses, I had to quit using by the 3rd trial day since the pain had escalated beyond it's previous level.
When in doubt, give it a fair try. If your intuition is telling you something different....then listen to it!!!
My dr presribed provigil, because of depression and ocd, but I also have cfs and fibromyalgia, I have found that it works - i am on 200 mg and for the past month and a half have been able to function - something I didnt do for a very long time before. Good Luck !
I too suffered from cronic fatigue and severe brain fog. My doctor put me on Provigil. Sorry to say it didnt help me. The only thing that brought me out of the severe tiredness and brag fog was a prescription for immiprimine. It really helped.
