Promethazine is a first-generation antihistamine and antipsychotic used to treat allergies, insomnia, and nausea. It was once widely used as an antipsychotic, although it is generally not used for this purpose now. It has approximately 1/10 the antipsychotic strength of chlorpromazine. It may also help with some symptoms associated with the common cold and may also be used for sedating people who are agitated or anxious.

I am prescribed promethazine 25mg pills. I was cleaning my room and ran across a light orange pill which is twice scored (like a cross) on one side and it is marked 2 0 Z C and blank on the other side. It sure looks like my promethazine tablet but not the right color. Has this happened to anyone else?

My daughter didn't wash down Phenergan yesterday and it dissolved in her mouth. Her mouth went numb almost immediately where it dissolved at, and now seems to be spreading to the top of her mouth and tongue today. Should I be concerned? Will this go away?
