Prolia Side Effects Skin Rash (Page 2)
UpdatedI developed a red burning itchy lumpy rash after one injection of Prolia. Mainly on face neck chest arms scalp. Anyone else?
I HAD MY FIRST INJECTION OF PROLIA ON JULY 31, 2017. ABOUT A WEEK LATER I THOUGHT IT WAS MOSQUITO BITES I WAS GETTING BUT NOW I AM SURE IT IS A RASH FROM THE PROLIA. THEY LOOK LIKE BITES AND ARE VERY ITCHY. EVERYDAY I SEEM TO GET A LITTLE MORE. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THE PROLIA RASH LOOKS LIKE MOSQUITO BITES? I HAVE THEM ON MY NECK, UPPER ARMS, THIGHS AND NOW MY HANDS.
Yes but my allergist said it was eczema which i didnt have prior to prolia.does your rash itch?
This rash plays cruel tricks!
It is 9 months since my first injection, 3 months since the second (and last). I occasionally feel as though it is gradually dissipating, but each time it bounces back with renewed intensity.
Today I woke up with huge purple blotches on my face, as well as a fiery red chest and itching and stinging all over.
After a busy and active day yesterday, I am a miserable couch potato, muttering obscenities today.
My GP prescribed Novasone lotion four months ago and my skin lapped it up. It pretty much saved my sanity. However, the generous prescription allowed me to use it for too long. Now I have a secondary set of side-effects, seemingly centered on my face. Massive itching, horrible flaring of previously minor rosacea, hot facial flushes (its summer here!). Now I am trying to get by with coal tar and menthol cream which helps to a very small degree. I just don't have the courage to use Prednisone or to use Novasone at the worst times.
The cyclical nature of this thing, due to the half-life issue, is particularly nasty.
Re: ANN (# 21)
I had my first injection of Prolia October 11 2017. A week later I developed hives on my scalp and now have a server rash on my body. The itching and burning are driving me insane and nothing seems to help. I've taken steroids and have topical ointments and nothing is touching this. It's been four months and it seems this rash is getting worse. Any suggestions... I'm not taking my second injection, I refuse to.
Re: TEten (# 24)
I know precisely how you feel, unfortunately. I wish I could offer suggestions other than what you probably know already.
Some people, braver than me, have used Prednisone to deal with the skin issues and it seems to work for them. Not for me - this drug can actually cause bone loss! Novasone lotion helped me a lot, until its own side-effects caused additional itching on my face, thinning of my skin, and redness and swelling of my nose, as well and hot red cheeks. Charming! Anyway, Novasone is useful in a limited way, especially for the scalp and drizzling down my back to those unreachable places. Staying cool, loose clothes, natural fibers, cold compresses, no bra, all help in a small way. See my post below for more. Sometimes analgesics help me sleep. I've had this for nine months now and it seems to be gradually easing overall, but with dreadful outbreaks of stinging still happening occasionally. The itching is now mostly concentrated on my upper body, not all over, so I guess that's progress of a sort. Bon chance!
Re: Poodle (# 19)
Hi Poodle
I am struggling to type this post as I have just had macular hole eye surgery. It came on quite fast... have had RX of sogrens with dry eyes... are you aware of others with this after Prolia? My Prolia was 01/15 and I have posted since then... you are my constant in the know. I mentioned my Prolia issues to the retina specialist but he had no say on the matter... have you heard of any?
Yes I had the same reaction. Face, arms, and back. Itch all over,
Re: Poodle (# 19)
Has This DRUG ever helped anybody ?Or does it just cause pain and misery?l have enough of that now without trying this drug for more.Thank you
I had the same experience. My 1st injection was October 11th, 2017 and one week later my scalp was itching and burning with hives... Then the nasty rash invaded my whole body. I tried steroids and have topical ointment, topical steroid creams and nothing is helping. The Drs say it's not the shot that caused this reaction but I've never had any issues before this injection... I've been itching for 7 months almost...Does it ever go away? I think there should be a class action lawsuit against the company that makes this poison.
Hi Willy,
I developed eczema from the Prolia.
This might help:
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives, itching, rash; difficult breathing, feeling light-headed; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Call your doctor at once if you have:
• new or unusual pain in your thigh, hip, or groin;
• severe pain in your joints, muscles, or bones;
• skin problems such as dryness, peeling, redness, itching, blisters, bumps, oozing, or crusting; or
• low levels of calcium in your blood (hypocalcemia)--numbness or tingly feeling around your mouth or in your fingers or toes, muscle tightness or contraction, overactive reflexes.
Serious infections may occur during treatment with Prolia. Call your doctor right away if you have signs of infection such as:
• fever, chills, night sweats;
• swelling, pain, tenderness, warmth, or redness anywhere on your body;
• pain or burning when you urinate;
• increased or urgent need to urinate;
• severe stomach pain; or
• cough, feeling short of breath.
Common side effects may include:
• bladder infection (painful or difficult urination);
• back pain, muscle pain; or
• pain in your arms or legs.
This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.
Hugs,
Nikki
Re: Cathy (# 4)
I have gotten a rash twice after prolia and had a biopsy proving drug reaction. It finally went away after a couple months of different creams and now it just came back again. I haven't had prolia injection sinceseptember and won't get anymore!!
Yes, I had horrible rashes mainly in my scalp and face. Loss of a lot of hair also. Horrible Drug! Wish I had been made aware of all the terrible side effects of Prolia before having my first injection. It is a drug used for cancer, a form of Chemo. But Amgen does not advertise that information. I get upset when I hear an ad promoting Prolia. It was a horrible drug for me and others that I know that took it.
Re: Cathy (# 3)
Hi Cathy, my mom is going through now. How did you get this resolved?
