Prolia Side Effects Ongoing (Page 6) (Top voted first)

Updated

I had my infusion Mar 4 2015. I have experienced severe stomach pains, leg pains that wake me up at night, a horrible dry cough, near migraine type headaches, very severe weakness, trouble walking, constipation, had to have dental work that I usually have great teeth, some trouble sleeping. My rheumatologist did nothing to try to help me with the symptoms but my primary doctor gave me medication that help with the stomach pains, take Excedrin for Migraines and enteric aspirin for back and body, and other meds to try and find some comfort. I'm somewhat better than the few weeks after the infusion but still have a lot of problems. Hopefully this doesn't last for 6 months.

Janie, we ARE listening to you and that is the exact reason I asked you to help Canadian as you have had far more Prolia than the rest of us. We mostly do one injection and QUIT! I cannot even imagine what you have been through so I'm unable to make suggestions because I cannot begin to hazard a guess with you -- only to know for sure it is Prolia related. Be well~Pood

Dear Canadian, Get off the Prolia before you go any more. It does not get any better and you will be better off not taking it. Buy some Almond Milk and drink 8 oz per day and you will get calcium from that milk. That is what one of my friends are doing. Almond Milk has great calcium contents. I am going to start on that right away. Good Luck.

Canadian & Poodle, The rashes that I have are a lot of eczema which the doctor identified. Also I have hives, little red blisters that come up on arms & legs. They come & go away with my ointment that I use for this. Also little white bumps that itch and If I scratch they bleed. I cannot identify the basal cell carcinoma because I had that and did not even know it. It was a pinkish small place and the doctor biopsied it and it was basal cell carcinoma. The rashes can vary in description and there are several that I have had and continue to deal with. Good luck on getting rid of the rashes. Eurecin ointment for dry skin is one of the things I use to keep down the itching. Drug stores sell that lotion. Get the one for dry skin if your skin is dry.

Hi Poodle, Janie and all the friends here: I wanted to say thank you very much for all the support, good advice and information.
I showed the doctor the brown spots on my hands, forearms and face, she said these are the age or liver spots. Then I showed her some of the bumps that has red coloured, brown coloured and black coloured one in my tummy skin, she said those bumps are there before the Prolia inj. What could I say? I said After the inj., my skin sometimes has red rashes go up and down and itching. Also I told her that I feel numbness in my leg and fingers and hands, something like needle hitting underneath this skin. She said I just took the inj. for 2 weeks not 2 months yet. Finally, she said I am too nervous that I feel all these things happening to me She did not see this is related to the inj. Her other patients has no problem like me. She even ask me no need to eat the magnesium bisglycinate as this won't help for taking the calcium. Today, my fingers are numb, before I thought I lacked of calcium and Vit D, but now I think may be I am taking too much calcium and Vit D all at same time? The doctor could not clarify this to me? I am at lost now.

I think I am having the hypocalcemia as I still have the numbness, tingling in my hands, fingers and toes plus muscle pains at back and legs. Look like I have to deal with it myself. By taking more calcium, Vit D and almond milk if I can. Blessed me.

Canadian~as to how much calcium I take, I let my body be my guide and the amount my Dr. said to take does not work for me so when I take more I feel better and the magnesium does stop the muscle cramps, 'Charley Horses' etc. I did find an excellent medical page on the net about skin cancer and what it looks like in the beginning. Liver spots are just dark spots we get on us -- it's the suntan we used to have that has not gone away so we still have still have flat brown spots that were that tan. I also have a raised up ones that are from 'old age' if one calls someone of 47 old, and they are easily removed by freezing them by the dermatologist. They are a very, very light tan, almost skin colored. I believe if you look on Amgen''s website under their drug Prolia you will find the numbness on your fingers and toes on their site as a side effect from Prolia. I don't know if they would tell you what to do since they are not your Dr. but it seems to me that your Doctor is in total denial. Basal cell carcinoma is usually not fatal but it can progress to the bones and then you will be in big trouble. Search the net well and you will find what I found. I'm sorry they don't let us post links here. It had to do with either Drugs or Doctors. Also we often refer to the net as the web. Hugs~Pood

Poodle, you are so nice always providing good guidance to me. I should see you as an example. My difficult is - My stomach is not too good now, I did try what the dr said eat 4 cups of almond milk a day + 3000Ui Vit D tablets - not comfortable with my stomach. So I tried the other liquid cal/mag/vitD as they were very thick and not easy to take. 3 days ago, I started taking the Wampole Vit D and Calcium liquid. I mixed 30ml calcium (600) and 7.5ml (1500UI) with 8oz to 12 oz of water twice a day. My stomach feels ok since they all dissolved in the water. I still need to order a new calcium with magnesium and VitD liquid. Since 09/25/2015 only 2 weeks I lost at least 5 lbs. I had the eye dr check my eye today, he said I didn't have cataract yet - thanks goodness. Now, I think I should up my calcium/VitD/mag if I still have the numbness in my toes, fingers and legs. As for the skin problem, of course I hope they are the liver spots. Poodle, Thanks telling me the Prolia web has all these info and I will go there to look it up. From reading yours and other friends posting, I have Learned a lot about Prolia then the doctor who prescribed me the Prolia. It isn't funny. Finally, I postponed my trip to next month.

Poodle. What is "Charley Horses"? a name for magnesium? Anyway, I am not sure the liquid form that I am taken is helpful for me? This Prolia injection really makes my life miserable and difficult. I hope I can go through it.

Hi Canadian~A 'Charlie Horse' is a really bad muscle cramp in your calf. The only way to get rid of it is massage and walking it off. Lots of fun in the middle of the night!! Must be an American expression. Did you catch my hints? Read my post again and again and again. Hugs~Pood

Canadian and others with Prolia skin problems -- try neem. Apparently there are lotions on the market that contain neem and it seems to be from what I read from Dr. Oz that this is a fantastic skin healing ingredient. Also one can take neem tablets to get 'toxins' out of the body. I wonder if this would help get Prolia out faster. Maybe we all should check it out more. I'm going to look to see where I can buy it in the US. He also uses it in his toothpaste so has perfect gums. It's from a tree that grows in India.

Canadian~You will get through it and around the 5th month it gets a lot better to where you feel like a real human being again. I had mine mis-calculated as I called the pharmacy today and my 6th month won't be up until Nov. 4-5, 2015. I thought it was this coming Tues. DARN!!! Yes, hair is still falling out but the person that cuts my hair said that new hair is coming in really quickly and he could not miss any hair from pre-Prolia to now. I checked Amazon for the neem products and they have them in pure oil to lotions, soaps, tablets, etc. I really believe this is the natural product that will eliminate our skin problems from Prolia. I don't know if I would be willing to swallow any tablets to help get the Prolia out though. Perhaps it could replace Prednisone which would be wonderful. Hugs~Pood

Poodle, thanks for your blessing. I am so happy to know that you almost get through the Prolia days and living like a human being again. Relly happy for you. As for My past 3 1/2 week, it was really miserable and I live not like a human being too. No concertration, full of nervous, worrying of what type of side effects would I have to face and how to deal with it. Two day ago', again my skin has rashes and itching at night, then, today, I found my skin besides has black spots and one of it is a red bump near my stomach. Am I allegy to magnesium? After I took the magnesium I found my skin Itching and more black spots growing. Too bad my stomach problem still exist that makes me more weak. Now I pray every night whe
(bless for you, the victims friends here and myself). Wishing everyone here be get well very soon. I hope the red bump is not a skin cancer.

Vitamin B12 the symptoms will cause numbness, or tingling "pins and needles"sensation in the hands, legs, trouble walking, experienced severe joint pain, began turning yellow, and became progressively short of breath. The cause was lack of vitamin B12 in his bloodstream. Anyone experiences the above symptoms. I have all the above and wonder eating vita b12 supplement would help?

Canadian - everyone needs to take a good supplement of Vitamins and Minerals. It's pretty much impossible to get all we need from food. There is one certain brand I prefer because it also has real food in it. It keeps me alive.
