Updated

I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

That sounds horrible. I think everyone here has endured these and many other side-effects. In a way you are relatively fortunate that these effects have shown up quickly. Sometimes all seems fine for months so when the side-effects start to become apparent, people do not link them to Prolia. This is how I allowed myself to have a second shot before the side-effects took over my life for about 18 months.
I hope you recovery quickly.

Kazz (# 3035) --

I have been on Actonel for over 2 years with no apparent problems, after a nightmarish experience with Prolia. I'm due soon for a bone density scan and hoping for a good result.
How is your experience of Actonel?

Prolia is not a good thing....you are having some of the side effects of prolia....the side effects are many and varied and some are permanent. Drs won't tell you this... For them it's all about the $$$'s.

No, it is not a good thing as anyone on this site will attest. I am so sorry that you are experiencing all these negative effects. There are other sites such as Save Our Bones and the Better Bones Blog for I go on diet and exercise for management of Osteo. Be well.

I got my 1st Prolia shot 3 weeks ago. It will also be my last shot. I have severe nausea, dizziness, fatigue, insomnia and more. My bone density is -3.6. I was told I had to do this and side effects were really nothing to worry about. I went to 5 doctors and was told by all not to worry. I am worrying now. I wish I found this site before I got the injection. Every site I went to said this is a good thing. I strongly disagree!!

Since you stopped the Prolia are you on something else now? I have 1 more shot for this year and I really don't want to take it.

Kazz ~ may I ask what relay drug you are taking? I stopped the shots but have not taken any drug. I DO feel back pain and feel I have to really pay attention to what I am doing in order to NOT break a bone!

Re: Lynne (# 3) Expand Referenced Message

My first injection was in July of 2026, within a short time I had extreme muscle and joint pain and spasm; the pain only got worse. Three doctors dismissed my symptoms claiming it was “ only” my Fobromyalgia.. Having had Fibro for decades before it was recognized as a real condition, I knew better.. Finalky I went back to Nee Hork to see. S specialist there. He immefiorderrf blood tests that indicated that my calcium level was dangerously low! I advise ever who has tight painful muscles to request, no demand having calcium checked.

The muscle pain and spasm continued with normal calcium levels. My last injection was Jan 2017; the muscle issues lasted until this past Jan 2020 ! One day it just resolved. Probably there is some interaction between Fibro and Prolia. I also experienced severe joint pain which has never resolved. Don’t forget the crushing fatigue ! In addition, it affected my previously well managed Hypothyroidism; I kept becoming more and more hypothyroid., which makes for more muscle discomfort and fatigue. This drug took four years of my life ! I advise everyone against this drug.

I agree and I have tried to get a lawyer to listen but they tell me that I am not disabled enough. The side effects for me were severe and left me with issues 1 year later but I am not dead or in a wheelchair. Some still come and go. The worst now is my jaw which I have to have get my doctor to evaluate. It locks, same as if I would grind my teeth but I do not. So the nightmare continues. I also have bronchiectasis.

As I have stated many times, Prolia was a horrible drug for me, horrible side effects and damage to my body that may never go away. There should be a class action law suit and it should be taken off the market. POISON

I had headaches then vertigo then utis...ear infections ..brain fog...leg and hip pain. My teeth are a mess...extreme tiredness and general feeling of yuk ....had 2 injections dont think Id survive a 3rd. Prolia does not make new b one it surpresses the immune system and prevents bone turnover. Once stopping you need a relay drug or risk spontaneous spinal fractures....would never wish thi as drug on my worst enemy....

Re: Sal (# 3022) Expand Referenced Message

I ordered this book but I haven't done anything out of it yet.
I'm currently having iron infusions. I hope it will help with the energy needed to
do yoga and to walk my dog.

It sounds like this book will help me with the deterioration in my lower spine and neck. Recently, I was diagnosed with mild arthritis with both hips along with a bone spur.

Reading about your fractures is something I'll mention to the new rheumatologist.

I appreciate you and everyone here who shares their information. Thank you!

Re: Darcy (# 3021) Expand Referenced Message

Thank you for your kind words. Of course the Dr. advised more Prolia; I will pass on that. In answer to your question, I have no idea how the first one happened. At a regular medical appointment I mentioned the pain in my back; I was sent for an x ray and it showed the fractures. The second time , while in the car snd we hit a bump , suddenly I had the same pain do I knew what happened. Again, an x ray showed fractures in the same area. There is no specific treatment, allow it to heal. One note, this is important, a Physiatrist ( Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation ) who is a Yoga master, and has a program of Yoga for Osteoporosis: when bending forward hinge from the hips, DO NOT round the back and come up vertebra by vertebra that can cause fractures. He advises anyone over 60 to follow this advice because we do know if we have Osteo of the spine until we experience a fracture. BTW his name is Dr. Loren Fishman in New York City. Although I no longer live in NYC, I still return to see him, in my opinion, he is a master..
