I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

Sedona did indeed your symptoms evade after the 6 months?

Thanks Pood I didn't realize that because I have had 4 injections that it might go on longer than 6 months. Is the blood clotting problems with the steriods?

Elaine~please get a referral to a Rheumatologist. After all the injections of Prolia you have had you can easily have a year of Pred. Just come off of it very slowly or you will have blood clotting problems. They work very differently from regular MD's and will Rx Pred as needed. Be well~Pood

Thank you so much, Diana. It's good to hear that I'm not imagining these symptoms. I'm terribly depressed right now and spending a lot of time crying. Very upsetting for my husband. I went out today for a short meeting with someone who is doing some work in our house and I started to feel so nauseous and weak. I keep getting these waves and my imagination gets the best of me. On a positive note , I got a call yesterday from the rheumatologist to say they had a cancellation on Tuesday! Every little ache and pain, I now imagine some new awful diagnosis. I am so hoping we can get away on our planned holiday in March. To be away from Canada and our doctors is kind of scary right now but I want and need this holiday so badly. My problem is that I'm a terrible worrier!
Again , thank you for confirming all my suspicions about this evil drug.

Hi, Judy, had all the symptoms you describe, plus excruciating pain of the nerves in the back of my neck, and more. I believe it was all Prolia, if I had it pre Prolia I would say no, but it all started within 10 days of Prolia injection. 50,000 dollars in copays later, yes, just copays, I am feeling well. Had a tumor taken off of Parathyroid, my bone density should return to normal (for my age.) Its been a long journey - over two years. The doctors mostly will deny the symptoms. But some of us are terribly hit with awful side effects from this medicine. Hope this helps validate some of what you are going through.

POD: I check the FDA web site on a regular basis for new Prolia label warnings. . On 2/1/17 I saw a new label warning for Prolia Suppl-180. See FDA Drugs@FDA type in Prolia Click on Labels for BLA 125320. All that was posted was Suppl-180. No information showed up. When I went back later to see if it was updated, the warning was gone. It shows last warning 8/5/16.

I than searched google and found a warning for Xgeva dated 2/1/17 that noted, after stopping the drug spine fractures can occur. Amgen has 14 days to change the label. I don't know if this warning is for Prolia or Xgeva. Could you find anything on this?

Just saw my GP today. She has referred me to a rheumalogist which isn't until the end of April! Don't think I can wait that long. Many years ago ( 44 years ago!) I was diagnosed with euythema nodosum.....sore bumps on legs , sore joints etc. It is an autoimmune disease. It eventually went away. Because of my history, she thinks I could have Sjogrens . Sores in mouth, dry mouth, tooth decay , skin rash , achy, tired , cough. Oh yeah, found out my right shoulder has a small tear in the supraspinatus tendon which I'm sure the chiropractor caused when he used some weird pulsating suction "cup" on my shoulder. It had been my left side I went to see him about! All he kept saying was that it gets worse before it gets better! It was fine when I first saw him!! It was the left shoulder that was the problem which was eventually diagnosed as bursitis!
I am now scared "s.....s" about all these problems. The answers I get are all the same . It's probably not Prolia! I though it affects the autoimmune system?! Has anyone had these symptoms and had them go away? I really need some support right now.go to the dentist today re my infected front tooth and hopefully he can save it!

Hi Pood, I checked out that site you mentioned. Great idea but we don't have one in Canada. I have checked rate doctors and certainly more than a few comments about her suggest she works with big pharma. She even mentioned it indirectly to me when I told her my side effects. Quote. " I work with the pharma company, I know the side effects". End of quote.i now just want to get a copy of my bone density and get it to my GP who I see today. I'm still having great difficulty with sensitivity and dryness in my mouth. I have gone from a very active out- going person who has become a home- buddy with absolutely no energy. Most depressing. I have to get all of these problems fixed before my husband has surgery in April as he will need post- op care. He has been so patient and supportive but for how much longer. That Florida beach is beckoning !!

Judy~ there is a site where you can see if your Doc is taking money from drug companies. DollarsforDoctors I believe. It's in the back pages. If you lose your front tooth, you will just have to buy an implant. The other lady here had the best prices I've seen. Too bad we don't know where we all live. The new immigration policy for the US right now is for three months but your Country was not mentioned at all so I'm sure you can go lie in the sun in Florida. Be well~

Pood, I see my doctor tomorrow and will see what she says. With physio it is feeling somewhat better. I can now lift my arm! My problem now is an infected FRONT tooth! I'm on penicillin and go back to the dentist for further work. It is a tooth that already has a crown and root canal due to an injury I had as a child. I may lose the tooth and and am just sick with worry. We leave the beginning of March for Florida( which I'm very nervous about doing due to the political scene in the US right now) .am still dealing with stinging and discomfort in my mouth with no one giving me any answers. Have seen an ENT Dr twice but no answers....just don't eat spicy food , I was told! So far I'm still inclined to put the onus on the Dr who put me on this evil drug. She denies that my problems have anything to do with Prolia " she' works with the drug company so she knows more than I do". Verbatim of what she told me. "My problems are caused by my body reacting to the stress I've had to deal with when my husband had 2 strokes 4 years ago" .
I have since heard from some of her patients that she works very closely with big Pharma! I do know she has, in the past, done trials for them. I'm beginning to wonder if I even needed Prolia!! Must get a copy of my bone density. Would just love some answers as to how long it takes for these side effects to go away and I get my energy back!

Alexa I didn't think I had any side effects until i jection #4 horrible raised and even scabbed rash that itches so bad. Took prednisone 5days helped immensely. After stopping prednisone the rash is spreading and as itchy as ever. Does this mean b I will have 6 months of this untill drg is out of my system?

Judy~Bursitis would be okay. They just put in an injection of something kind of like Prednisone and it breaks it up. I had one on the back of my knee once and could only walk with a cane. The injection of whatever it was solved that for life. I hope it is just bursitis as it is such an easy cure. We have many bursa throughout our whole body. Just google bursa on humans and you will see how many we have. Be Well~Pood

Diana~he tells you to not eat gluten BUT did he do an iGa test on you. It's a simple blood test but it goes to a speciality lab. If that is low you cannot have gluten but it sounds like he is just doing guesses instead of actual medical work. I had never had it before Prolia and if I even get a tiny little bit of cross-contamination I am SICK. There is something in Prolia that brings out the worst of our DNA because that is a disease caused by our DNA. Others here have other forms of that problem. My next door neighbor had Chrons really badly and she went to Denver for a special (belly button) surgery and now she is fine. It's all gone. Hugs~Pood

Accupuncture helped me a lot - to get through the worst of the symptoms. I could barely walk when I went in for first visit. :)

Well, that's what he told me. (He was local, but with great reputation). Anyway, then there was one from New York who was after me to sign on with them for another type of injury, when I asked him about this, he dropped me on both counts. The other one was Ciprofloxin, and they are the ones that contacted me! I have a friend who is a project manager in an attorney's office, I can ask her if she might find an opportunity to talk to one of the attorneys. Or just check their records on class actions, doesn't have to give me any info other than, yes they take them. Ive been down for the count again, had lower "oscopy and upper, and he put me on proton pump inhibitor - couldn't tolerate, put me on another, couldn't tolerate - in fact had a fall on the cement; they made me so dizzy. Soooooo have been researching natural ways to take care of what he said was my issue. I'm tired of doctors. This is a condition I've had since early days of Crohns. But I have no signs of Crohns now!!!! Yay! Still, I'm so weakened from the bout after the Prolia - two full years ago - I remember trying to walk into the room where great-grandson was having birthday party, and I had to have a person on each side of me, it was horrible, pretty immediate post injection. So, I'm rambling. I'm getting a massage tomorrow to get rid of the resurgance of nerve pain that hit me with the proton inhibitor, may need accupuncture. I see the knee doctor soon - - still icing the knee - fell on my hands and knees off daughter's porch onto the cement. Not good at age 72. And I see my Regenerative Med Dr. in a couple of weeks. He will tell me that he told me not to eat wheat - sooooooo, I'm sworn off it. The damage from the Crohns with the huge hiatal hernia is done long ago. It doesn't hurt anymore. But gastro told me that didn't mean I was incurring damage. Everything is so darn complicated. Going to bed, very tired.

Pood, I'm waiting for the results of a diagnostic ultrasound on my shoulders, upper back etc. From what the technician said it appears to be bursitis which is, from what I understand, is an autolmmune disease. I have been referred to a rheumatologist but in the meantime am seeing a physiotherapist who is helping.
In the meantime I have been to my dentist and I now am on antibiotics for an infected tooth.....my front tooth which has a crown due to a childhood injury! I may now lose my tooth. I go back next week, have the crown removed as I have lost tooth due to decay and we'll go from there. Oh yes, I as ever told or warned that you should avoid any tooth extractions while on Prolia. I had a back molar pulled after my 2nd injection! I am furious with the doctor who prescribed Prolia . I felt terribly pressured and was told that she had many patients on it and none of them had any side effects. Maybe so, but after reading the letter sent to healthcare providers from Amgen re telling patients about serious side effects I feel cheated, abused and used. I know for a fact that she has done drug studies with other drug companies. I can only hope and pray that now that I no longer am on it that eventually all my problems will go away. In the meantime I am spreading the word to others to educate themselves, ask questions and don't put anything into your body unless absolutely necessary.
Thank you Pood for all the information you have provided regarding Prolia. I only wish I had known it earlier. I have passed in on to my 2 daughters.

Diana~someone is not telling you the truth. It only takes 1 person to start a class action suit. We have to agree on what damages we all have in common and the only thing I can think of is a totally messed up immune system that leads to messed up immunoglobulins and that leaves us open for x. y and z.. It's like when people went after Merck it was for the esophageal stomach issues that their product causes. They don't get removed from the market. They just have to pay out large sums of money and the drug stays on the market. Last I read they still have one billion left in their 'settlement' account. If Prolia did not bind to the L in RANKL it could be a tolerable drug - the L is for all of our immune system. Your thoughts on this please. Hugs~Pood

Antoinette~have you been hospitalized for your side effects? According to the literature from Amgen, the manufacturer, you have very dangerous side effects and should be in a Doctor's care 24/7? Be well~Pood

Patty~you should be getting better now but it seems as if you are not. Please get the very best medical treatment available and if possible, find an Immunologist. You are not saying what your side effects are so we are at a loss of being able to help you in any way. Be well~Pood
