Updated

I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

I took Prolia injections for 3 years with no side effects and increase density, however, I wanted to take a break after 3 instead of 5 since no long terms studies. I am now having upper leg cramping and not sure if it is withdrawal of the drug from my system. Can't find any info for after effects

Nancy~you are the second now to complain of after effects from stopping Prolia. I have searched every nook and cranny of the net trying to find some info on this problem but there is nothing there. You will find the other lady a few pages back. Hopefully, your body will return to normal soon and just because you have not taken the next injection does not mean in the least that you don't have Prolia in your body -- just not as much. Be well~Pood

Anne~When Prolia is given as a chemo drug, the patient receives one injection of Prolia per month, not like every 6 months like we do. That still does not deny the fact that it is basically a chemo drug. Pood

Poodle, how long before it leaves our bodies, I started taking Magnesium as you suggested, I hope that helps

It depends on the side effects one is having -- some people here are 3 years out and can barely walk. It seems to be very individualized. I was the typical person - 5 mos. and got a lot better and by six it was pretty much gone. I still have the muscle problem from where it was injected that goes up to my mouth. Now that we are having better weather I can go and get it dry needled to break it all up. Dr. refuses to take me off of sleep meds until I have finished 11 months. His view is better to be safe than sorry. There are arrows on these pages so you can read previous posts. You may want to go back to the beginning of 2015 and start reading and that will get you up to now. I would certainly call and ask Amgen why am I having side effects from your drug after I stopped it. They ran a 10 year study so someone may admit to something. If you get no help from Amgen, report it to the FDA if you are in the USA.

Sheri- I've started taking magnesium and it's been helping with the constipation. "MagOx" is a good one.

Anne~mine has gone away. After the 7-8th month I cut it in 1/2. When I went back to my Psychiatrist a few weeks ago he said no stopping all meds until one whole year after Prolia injection. I think mine were different and more than what you are taking tho.
I'm even barred from my dentist until every single solitary side effect from Prolia is totally gone. I will be at the one year mark in not too long so I can wait. Hugs~Pood

Sheri~it makes zero difference whether you had Prolia or not, fact is bones need some Magnesium to build on just like they need Calcium. You can take some every day or take 500 mg 3/4 times/week. One has to be careful with Magnesium as it can be a laxative so try different kinds and brands. You may want to skip all the bone building meds on the market now and do it as it should be done with calcium, Vitamin D, magnesium and light weight bearing exercises - this can be just walking or swimming in a nice warm pool if you live farther to the North. Be well~Pood

You are so correct Sheri. MDs do not want to admit it is their beloved Prolia that causes all the harm even tho most all of the side effects are listed on Amgen's website and in every TV commercial. What do they miss? Acute insomnia and hair falling out like a chemo patient. It would be a great idea to copy all of Amgen's material on the side effects of Prolia and stick it under your Doctor's nose and say: READ AND LEARN SO YOU DO NO MORE HARM. That is their oath -- DO NO HARM! Remind him/her when they took their oath those are the words they said and you want to know if s/he is living up to that oath. Also many of them were paid money for Rx'ing Prolia -- Dollars for Doctors. First thing they need to understand is Prolia reduces the immune system so it cannot do it's job properly and that is the reason for all the different infections. Just say it binds to RANKL. L is the most important letter in that meaning your immune system. Then ask them how Prolia can go 'poof' in six months since it is carbon based and so are we. Everything living or has lived on this planet is carbon based which means everything has a half life. There is no end to a half life. It goes on into infinity. Be well~Pood

When I went home I noticed I bought 2 bottles of 250 mg of magnesium, so 3/4 times a week will definitely be good, I take 600 plus D calcium 2 times a day plus multi vitamin. I appreciate your help, you have been so helpful

Sheri - double up on that Calcium of yours -- 1200 and 1200. I was told to even take one with a glass of OJ. He said that was sufficient food for it. Then the other later for breakfast and another for lunch and another with supper. That way you can use your 600's but do them 4 times a day. There is one thing Prolia LOVES and that is calcium and if it cannot get enough of it from supplements it will start robbing it from our muscles and that's the cause of the muscle cramps so then we have to take Magnesium to get rid of them. Prevention is always better than having to deal with a problem when it strikes generally at a most inopportune time. Be well~Pood

Someone st my gyn office tried to get me to take this after my osteoporosis diagnosis. I said NO. When I saw my doc he said it want him. He has referred me to a rheumatologist. I think all the BD drugs are dangerous. I won't take them. I want more testing to see what is causing it. I have early meno and two health conditions which contribute. I'm disgusted someone at that office tried to discuss prolia with me before I even saw my doc and get me to see another doc there who treats osteoporosis. How about figuring out what is causing it and discussing other options besides these poisons???? He said it wasn't him but she said he wNted me to see this other doc prolia is meant for cancer patients and bone metastasis not due osteoporosis. It depresses your immune system and has terrible side effects including death. Just look up prolia deaths. There are 60 reported deaths at askapatient alone. Don't take this drug!!!
