Prolia Side Effects (Page 146)
UpdatedI would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.
Re: Sal (# 2899)
When in doubt about Prolia refuse it. If the doctor gets angry find another doctor. Three years ago my GYN doc filled a prescription for me. I refused it and she got testy. I had no idea all the pain people were having with Prolia. Once someone injects a drug and you are allergic to it the Prolia stay in your system for a long time. Quit listening to their advertisement on TV.
Re: Hedy (# 2901)
Oh this Dr. has supported me even those he disagrees.
So, a new Gallup poll has placed the Pharmaceutical industry at the very bottom of the list of respected industries.
Re: Hedy (# 2901)
Sounds like we had the same Gyn! My was very testy when I told her of my reaction.
I will say something, though. My worst side effects were in my mouth. About 15 years prior I had shingles in my mouth on one side. I honestly think that this could have been what caused this reaction years later with prolia. Maybe doctors should ask their patients before giving prolia , to ask if they’ve had shingles.....maybe even chicken pox for that matter! I’m not a doctor nor have I ever been in the medical profession, I just wonder?
Re: Judy (# 2903)
That is a very interesting thought, Judy.
It's yes for both from me.
Re: Judy (# 2903)
I think you have hit on something. I believe that Prolia somehow affects the immune system. But how to get the word out ? No one is going to get the word out.
Perhaps at Sve Our Bones ,the founder is a professional in nutritional science and healed her own Osteoporosis. She regularly researches and posts the latest information about Osteoporosis and about Big Pharma.
Re: Sal (# 2893)
I absolutely confirm what you stated about what I call "doctor denial syndrome". My doctor assured me that he had given Prolia to many patients and no one ever had side effects. When I reported my side effects, he flatly stated that these problems had nothing to do with Prolia even though that was the only thing new in my system. Of course "no one ever has side effects" if all reports of side effects are ignored or denied.
The first two shots I didn’t have any side effects. After the third however I had horrible fatigue, relentless constipation and high cholesterol. Abated @ fifth month. Will not take another shot
Re: Hedy (# 2901)
My GYN was insulted when I refused a shot of Prolia. I am allergic to many things and I knew an injection of Prolia could play havoc with my body. I had no idea all the problems people on this list were having with Prolia.
Re: Lizzie (# 2906)
My doctor said the same thing.
Re: Hedy (# 2908)
The “. No one ever reported that before”. seems to be a common response regardless of specialty. I am quite sure people have reported side effects but they were ignored in favor of Big Pharma. I don’t believe they are all in collusion , it seems to be a particular mindset, not paying attention to patients.
My quility of life has changed after I was injected with prolix, I had pains in my legs and arms, I had difficulty walking, I ,am not going to have anymore injections of this drug , it is a dangerous drug , it should be removed from the market.
Re: Ros (# 2911)
It might be a good idea to have your calcium level check.. Prolia lowers calcium level in the body causing pain and tightness.
Prolia is a horrible drug. It has been a nightmare for me, I survive 7 shots before becoming educated about how deadly the side effects can be. Poison, should be taken off the market.
Re: Ros (# 2911)
I also have had a change in quality of life and live with extreme pain in my joints everyday. I had one injection only and 6 months later am dealing with issues. This is the worst thing I have experienced and I have been through a lot. I have exercises that I and which without I could not function.
Re: Sal (# 2912)
Good point about calcium. My level dropped after Prolia, but was actually high before the shot. Now, since I am off the drug about a year, the calcium has leveled out. The Prolia masked the high calcium level that was actually caused by a parathyroid tumor which has since been removed. However, I am dealing with post=Prolia skin rashes that are dryng and itchy and have patches of dry, red, spots. Started taking collagen for the skin and did some research on collagen. It turns out to be a good partner for calcium and can help the bones. I will try taking both and eventually see what happens with my bone scan. If nothing else Prolia forces you to educate yourself to survive the after effects!
Re: Lizzie (# 2915)
My story is similar. Within a few months of Prolia, I developed extreme muscle pain and stiffness, I couldn’t even smile. I saw three Dr.’ s who blew off my complaints as “Just Fibromyalgia “. JUST Fibromyalgia??? Anyway, I went back to New York to my previous Dr. knowing he would listen to me. He ordered labs and I was found to have SEVERE hypocalcemia , to the point where it could have affected my heart. ! In addition, I had severe hyperparathyroidism ! I hate to think what might have happened to me if I hadn’t taken matters into my own hands. This is why I strongly encourage people to be their own advocates. Ps, one Dr. apologized to me, and now listens to me. The others are no longer my Dr’s.
Re: Sedona (# 9)
did your problems ever go away? Mine persist and I am at the end of year one waiting for them to go away (and actively fighting against Prolia with various methods). I am so disgusted and so sad that I trusted in an oncologist. I believe most medical doctors to be ignorant because they are being fed lies by the drug companies. When I got breast cancer almost 4 years ago, I was able to talk to a scientist who told me chemo was a bad decision too. They almost got me with chemo until I listened to the scientist. If only he had been around when they later advised me to take Prolia for two years (simply to prevent bone problems while on estrogen blocker). I later learned, Prolia is used in bone chemo, so they got their chemo drug into me despite my never wanting it, AND it is having effects on my mouth even to this day, similar to effects that chemo drugs have on the mouth. Not to mention feeling wind on my back, swaying sensations and other weird internal feelings I feel are related to the nervous system. Maybe it wacked my brain somehow!
Re: Sedona (# 9)
This drug was poison to my body, mostly dental problems and joint pains and hair loss. Lost all of my top teeth and had implants. Unfortunately, I do not think I am through with my dental issues. Changed my life and not in a good way.
The side effects of Prolia are horrible. Beware of this deadly drug. The side effects have been and still are a nightmare for me. Horrible drug!!
Re: Gloria (# 2919)
I second that! It is a horrible toxic drug. I advise against it. If only I had known about this site before I took my first injection.
