Prolia Side Effects (Page 131)

Updated

I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

Re: sal (# 2591) Expand Referenced Message

I took one shot and refused any more. My hair was falling out. Then I found out it was a cancer drug! I am taking organic super hemp now processed in organic olive oil. Plus lots of supplements.

I believe getting ok from Doc to discontinue Prolia injections is a scare tactic -- I decided to just say NO! For me it was a full year before I felt like I might be improving. I am convinced my symptoms of continued weight loss, extreme weakness (literally had to sit to brush my teeth) plus some additional symptons mentiond by others. I'm convinced all issues, were a result of Prolia. After I began injections sick everyday for almost 2yrs and was off work for 2 months end of yr 2016. I didn't think I would ever be functional again. It's been a year & 4 mos since my last Prolia injection & am feeling 100% better. Hopefully it will just be a matter of time once you decide to stop.

Kelly (# 2602) --

You just told my story, the only difference being weight gain. It took me a year to begin to feel better.

Just say no!

Kelly (# 2602) --

I have another month before getting another inj. Now remember 7 yrs of them. I refuse to take another. I have found some really good calcium builders. ALGAE CAL. PLUS. STRONTIUM. BOOST. Taken together it maximize bone health. Also BONE BROTH. You drink. My bone are not hurting as much. And muscle pain. Is less. BUT every day it changes.

I'm going to be 80 in a couple of months. Osteoporosis runs in my family--even my brother has it. I've had two vertebrae fractures in the last four years, but am still showing up in tests as "osteopenia." Spine doctor says after two spontaneous fractures, they list you as having osteoporosis anyway. Just finished two years of Forteo injections daily with no side effects. I'm scheduled to start Prolia injections this week but am thinking of backing out after reading of so many bad experiences. The first shipment is scheduled to arrive this morning. Don't know what to do--I am relatively healthy for a woman my age and must stay in good shape to care for my 83-year-old hubby who has Alzheimer's. Any comments or advice from past Prolia users would be appreciated.

Re: TexasNana (# 2606) Expand Referenced Message

Not being a Dr. and not knowing your medical history, I wouldn't want to advise you against it. Since most Dr.'s seem invested in prescribing it, it is hard to get an unbiased opinion. That being said, it still might be worth it. I do advise you to do research so that you can be prepared with questions. There are reports on line that give different criteria different from most practioner. There are also a couple of informative sights such as : Save Our Bones and Better Bones Blog. In addition there is an easy 15 minute work out on DVD called TTAPP. Many people have improved bone density from that. This work out can be done by anyone at any fitness level.
One more thing, is your Dr. an Endocrinologist ? If not I do suggest you see one. They are specialists in Osteo. It is appalling to read about Dr.'s other then specialists this toxic drug that deems to have no prescribing criteria.

Re: sal (# 2607) Expand Referenced Message

My doctor is an Endocrinologist and told me there were no side effects from Prolia. I am now looking for another doctor after he was upset with me because I refused to take another injection. I feel like loosing all of my top teeth was enough, plus pain in my legs. Also two weeks after my one and only injection, my stomach went up into my esophagus and I almost died. This may or may not have anything to do with Prolia but I will never take this poison drug again.

Re: Linda (# 2608) Expand Referenced Message

I understand, my Dr. is also an Endo. There are legitimate cases for prescribing it, and it shouldn't be prescribed by just any Dr. in just any specialty. Of course, even on legitimate cases, the risk of side effects is high .

Re: Kelly (# 2603) Expand Referenced Message

Weight gain? I wondered because no matter what I do can’t lose weight. I would be the perfect example of diet. I don’t smoke or drink alcohol. I swim 45 min a day. I can’t wait.

Re: Linda (# 2608) Expand Referenced Message

Hi Linda, I would be willing to beat that Prolia was the poison that caused your problems. I know it has cause a lot of serious problems for me and my dentist said that I was lucky that a did not have any mouth and teeth problems. As I have stated many times, it has been a living nightmare for me. My health really went down after the Prolia, and now it is being used as a form of Chemo. Wish I had never taken this poison drug and still hoping there will be a class action law suit, not for the money, but just to prove how bad the drug can be. Hope you get better soon.

Re: Norma (# 2605) Expand Referenced Message

Thank you for your input re calcium builders. I will certainly consider any natural option. I have decided to accept the natural progress of aging without putting pharmaceuticals in my body due to side effects experienced. I'm amaged at the range of issues others have shared after so few injections. I'm currently using Shaklee OsteoMatrix and JointHealth Complex, could be considered expensive, but is natural with high % of beneficial ingredients without fillers, so worth it for me. I noted a prior post where someone stated there are alot of doctors "invested" in Prolia - I feel most of their investment is definitely $$. I'm appalled at those doctors that dismiss their patients concerns regarding Prolia as did mine.

Re: Kelly (# 2614) Expand Referenced Message

All I can say to you is that Prolia was deadly for me. I took 7 shots before I did research, and I found out that is a form of Chemotherapy. I took this for a mild case of Osteopenia and now I find out is a form of Chemo,I should have been told this before I took the first shot/

I gained 18 lbs. I think be cause my entire body seemed to be inflamed;
also due to the pain, swelling and especially the weakness, I could hardly exercise.

Re: Gloria (# 2615) Expand Referenced Message
Most certainly NOT. The main ingredient in Prolia and it's twin are the same. The twin is used on breast cancer patients when it has spread to the bone so they are getting it for the same reason we do.....build up bone mass! Chemo and radiation for a cancer can cause severe bone loss -- much worse than osteoporosis. Prolia has to be the worst drug ever made but it could be beneficial to those that have their spine totally falling apart into little pieces. To me it seems to be a lose-lose situation. Everyone, please get this fact into your minds. Do more real research instead of believing what is false. I even thought that in the beginning until I really researched the matter. Be well~Pood

I second Poodle. I made my decision based on fear, not facts.

Re: sal (# 2618) Expand Referenced Message

Didn't we all. The only good for me was the fact that I've educated my daughters to question everything they put in their bodies and DO THEIR HOMEWORK before they make any decision!!

My wife had her third shot of prolia august 2016.Developed her tooth abscess in march 2017 and just developed her second tooh abscess 2 weeks ago.
Both were treated conservatively with antibiotics.
Of course doctors have denied prolia was the cause but my wife now a senior had only one filling prior to this date.
