Prolia And Total Knee Replacement

Have been on Prolia for 4 months. Next injection due in 2 months. Scheduled to have a total knee replacement in 3 weeks. Is it safe to get knee replacement while on Prola? Will the healing be as good if I'm not on Prolia? Are infections a higher possibility? Anyone out there had knee replacement while on Prolia?

Yes, it has been known to increase the risk of infections, including possibly severe ones, though the FDA states that they are usually not fatal.

There are many details about this medication listed here: https://rxchat.com/wiki/Prolia/

Thus, it would be best to speak to your doctor, as they may want you to stop it for awhile, before having your surgery.

Are you on any other medications?
