Prolia Side Effects Duration (Page 16) (Top voted first)
UpdatedWould like to know if anyone had side effects from Prolia but they went away - and how long did it take for that to happen?
Re: Gloria (# 217)
So did I. I ordered it yesterday. Hope it works!! Thanks all for giving an old dog a new trick. Be well~
Re: Vickie (# 221)
Continuing or discontinuing? There are others on the market if you can take them. Be well~
Re: Giralda (# 216)
I thought on the Amgen site it said no for those on dialysis, but go back and check to make sure I remembered correctly. Your doctor should be able to give you a definitive answer. Make those buggers work for their money. *smile*
Re: Nikki (# 233)
Hi Nikki. Thank you for your answer. Where can I find the article from Amgen. please let Know.
Has anyone on dialysis experienced side effects from Prolia? Strange thing is you 're not supposed to drink water if on dialysis, but you should, if taking Prolia.
Re: Lizzie (# 265)
Best wishes to you. I hope that your “ Detox “ from Prolia gets easier.
Re: Nikki (# 116)
Adding to this post: It's January 2019 and I still have not made it to the YMCA to start working out. Numerous UTIs, and bouts of bronchitis, which I was recently told is now the beginning of COPD. I have never, ever smoked in my life so doctors are perplexed. I told them it was the Prolia, that the drug brings out everything that's nasty. The overcast weather is making my chronic fatigue and pain so bad I'm nauseous. How can I get better if I'm bedridden?
One thing that helps with my bronchitis is Nature's Way Umcka Cold Care.
I'd love suggestions on natural things that have helped any of you. Maybe trying some of your suggestions will help get me to the point where I'll have enough energy to start exercising.
Thank you so much!

Thank you, Sal. I appreciate you sharing the information.

Re: Sal (# 273)
Thank you, Sal!
Not all dogs can be trained to be service dogs but I'm going to try.
Hopefully, some of the nasty things I'm still dealing with will at least lessen. That seems to be true for some. I'll stay in touch and continue learning from everyone here. The information on here has been such a blessing.

Update on my puppy: Smudge Alpin MacRuff is a Cairn terrier. He loves to ride in the car and he loves people. Due to terrier hyperactivity, his training is taking longer than I thought it would. We've been through two levels of dog training at Petsmart so far. I managed to get my hubby to do it with me.
My chronic fatigue is still really bad. I need a nap in the afternoon just to semi-function. More energy would mean I could work with Smudge more. Smudgie love kids. The trainer suggested he would be a good therapy dog for kids. That would take time and energy I don't have right now but something to consider in the future.
I'm hoping he will settle down more as I continue working with him on the heel command and teaching him not to jump on people.
Zak George's Dog Training Revolution is a great resource. And I found a book specifically aimed at terriers called From Tenacious to Terrific.
If you're on Facebook you can find his page Smudge Alpin MacRuff and he's on Twitter, too. We're doing a doggie cookbook together.
Hugs,
Nikki
Re: PunyDeb (# 300)
I am so sorry that you are are experiencing such serious side effects.
It is unconscionable that you must endure this, and even worse have little recourses.
We need to start putting people before profits instead of the other way round.
Re: Dawn (# 299)
Thank you, Dawn. I'm interested to see what comes of this.

Re: Lizzie (# 307)
Lizzie and anyone else,
Have you experienced iron deficiency anemia? I've had problems off and on with anemia for years but I've never had it as bad as I do now. My blood count level was 9.5 in December. Monday I went to a hematologist and learned my red blood count level is 7.6. He said I have iron deficiency anemia and need an iron infusion once a month for the next 5 months.
I learned yesterday that people who are gluten intolerant and who have Celiac are prone to anemia because gluten free produces aren't enriched with iron and many of us also have issues with eating meat and dairy.
Thanks y'all for the help!
Nikki
Re: Kazz (# 311)
I second that!
Hi y'all,
I've had my first iron infusion and I can't wait to start feeling better. That same day I had a phone visit with my rheumatology PA. The x-rays I got a few weeks ago said my osteoarthritis was now in both hips. It's mild and she said on my right hip I have a spur on the bone. I've had osteoarthritis in my fingers for years and was a bit surprised about it settling in my hips. Am wondering if this has anything to do with the Prolia.
Does anyone know or have any experience with spurs? I'm going to call the office and ask if they get bigger and what do they do about them.
The PA asked if I wanted to try a NEW osteoporosis drug that came on the market 6 months ago. She didn't say the name. I told her sure go ahead and give me the information. Am I going to take it? No. Not even with a set of borrowed lips. My thought was to get the information so I could help others on this forum in case your doctor tries to suggest another drug.
Well, I looked up this new drug and guess who makes it....If you said Amgen you win a prize! This is what I found in a Google search: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the new medication romosozumab (brand name Evenity), from the drugmaker Amgen, which appears to dramatically boost bone density. Apr 12, 2019
Just from the name of this drug we can make a pretty educated guess Evenity is in the same drug class as Prolia.
Thanks for the help and I hope some of my information is helpful to someone.
Re: Kazz (# 309)
I've never heard of getting a relay drug. I was never given anything. Most of my doctors dismiss my claims of Prolia being so bad with side effects.
