Re: Elaine (# 107) Expand Referenced Message

but one cell cannot cause any damage or any problems to the human body any more than that one aspirin you had when you were maybe 20 or so. It's made from this Earth too but causes you zero problems. Prolia is different because when all of it's half lives are gone, it still causes problems that are very difficult to get rid of. Have you tried Prednisone for that nasty rash? Also, be very careful with soaps on your skin and your lotions. I know of two good ones that say "for face only" so we know that is extremely gentle and OTC lotions just don't work well with that rash. Nurses in hospitals use Nutrashield because they have to 'alcohol' their hands every time they come in to see a patient. It says it prevents diaper rash, dry and cracked skin, non-allergenic and non-sensitizing, It has to be ordered on-line or at a store that carries hospital items. I used it with my Prolia rash which is now gone. Hope you can find the correct products. Be well~

Thank you. She already has a compromised immune system, and the Dr. who administered this did not tell us this would hurt her more. Amgen even recommends people with a compromised immune system should not be given this Prolia.

I do believe that this medication causes cancer. I started feeling sick two weeks after having the injection. Now, two years later, I have bladder cancer and lots of pain in my bones.

Do you know the formula has Chemo? I had my first and last injection May 1, 2017 without being advised of side effects. I was so, so sick - IBS, teeth and sores in my mouth and tongue, my hair was falling out, lost 20 lbs. Lots of pain now 7 months later. Doctors do not know what they should about this drug Prolia and similar ones. I wish the substitute internal medicine doctor had never brought the subject up and sent me to an arthritis doctors who has a terrible reputation. I spent over $1400.00 out of pocket up until August and still having arm and thoracic/neck pain. I have come a long way but when does it end. I kept a detail summary of the doctors I saw and how much I spent. Sent this to FDA and my insurance company and the maker of the drug, but they could not even reimburse me for the $4,000.00 shot and I paid $200.00 out of pocket.

Thanks for sharing. My wife already had a compromised immune system, and yet they assured us it was no problem. Now we find out, Amgen never tested those with my wife's issue on their drug study. As a matter of fact they were excluded from testing. Well, medicare pays those Dr.'s $1600.00 for that shot. No wonder they don't want to give up that income.

Omg, reading all these side effects is scary, especially now knowing that prolia stays in our system forever. My arms are so sore that I can’t lift them and ache so much in bed that I’m unable to have a good nights sleep. Now have developed pain in the lower right side of my back that makes it Increasingly difficult to stand right away from sitting position. Seems something else is developing everyday other day. I’ve had 2 injections, won’t be going back for the third. Please anyone considering taking it do your homework first.

I had my first prolia injection in October. I have had increased pain but also constant burning while urinating and frequency to urinate but no urinary tract bacterial infection but my WBC count in the urine is elevated. Have had other tests to test for bladder cancer. I also take exemestane for breast cancer . I feel like prolia has made me already more miserable than I was. And now I have high blood pressure and high cholesterol, which I never had before. Can prolia be causing all of this???

Poodle (# 162) - I found it very strange that to be at risk for spine fractures after stopping prolia when I wasn't at risk of spine fractures before taking prolia

I have taken 5mg or 10 mg of prednisone everyday for about 10 years because of my RA. I also take prednisone step doses when I have Bronchitis as I COPD. The prednisone keeps the inflammation around my joints at bay. When I have an RA flare the dose goes up to eliminate both the inflammation and the pain it causes. I also had one shot of Prolia in November of 2016 and had massive muscle and bone pain In my thighs and the prednisone was of no help for that. After about 6 months I started the journey to the new normal.

I can't take any of the drugs for osteoporosis. After learning what they do, I'm thinking it's a blessing in disguise.

Hugs to all!

Re: Vickie (# 167) Expand Referenced Message

I took the one and only shot in may 2016. I thought it was going to kill me. Never had a broken bone of any kind in my life. In November 2017 I had a fractured back. I know without a doubt it was from the Prolia.

Re: Vickie (# 177) Expand Referenced Message

Vickie, I apologize for my reaction. As I'm sure, you and all of these people understand, that trying to find something to help is very stressful, but I am truly sorry that I let my emotions get the best of me. My GP diagnosed me with Polymyalgia Rheumatica, and the only treatment that really helps is Prednisone. I absolutely HATE having to take it, but I was so desperate, and wondered if anyone had experienced positive outcomes taking prednisone for adverse reactions other than rashes. My doctor did tell me that the Prolia shouldn't be causing such side effects, but she did do a lot of lab work and referred me to a rheumatologist. He is slowly tapering the Prednisone. He said that he feels my symptoms are related to Prolia. The Prednisone has helped the pain TREMENDOUSLY. He said only if the pain comes back with a vengeance, while tapering off the Prednisone, would he consider a diagnosis of Polymyagia Rheumatica. All the lab work was normal. Wishing ALL healing,

I was just reading the updated warnings by the FDA and Amgen dated 1/31/2018. I'm convinced they know about these problems, even our last visit to the Doctor convinced me of this. My wife over a year ago suffered a fractured Sacrum....Within 3 months they put her on Fosamax, then May of 2017 the Prolia. With all the other stuff from this drug she still had pain in the lower back. This week an MRI showed her Sacrum was not healing, which perplexed her Ortho.....well...well, well, now to read the new warnings and side effects this drug is suspect of preventing "bone remodeling" what's that? Ha, if you have an existing fracture, this Prolia prevents the fracture from healing! The Dr. who gave her this shot knew of the fracture but we never discussed this issue.

Re: Janet (# 192) Expand Referenced Message

Yes Janet, I have serious eye problems that I'm positive are related to Prolia as I never had them before. My first and only Prolia injection was 10 and a half months ago and my eye problems began shortly after and getting worse. I have an appointment on Friday to see an Ophthalmologist. The crystalline in both my eyes seem to be swollen as if I had a tiny, inflated bag on top of them... The visual field is clearly reduced. I will continue to research the damage this drug causes. Get well, all of you...

Re: Janet (# 192) Expand Referenced Message

Having taken Prolia, it in my opinion is a horrible drug, it has caused a lot of health problems for me. My GP doctor was horrified when he found out I had taken it. It was originally for bone cancer patients, and for me it has been a nightmare, so I would not be surprised at anything it could cause to your body. Hope this helps.

Re: teddt (# 190) Expand Referenced Message

Did you have injections, or oral meds? If injections, how many did you have? I had one injection in June 2017. I seem to be one that hasn't had problems, except for hair loss and I'm not sure I can blame it on Prolia. I already had issues regarding other folk's complaints. My big issue is I went to a dentist that refused to do any dental work needed due to my long ago 1 injection. Good Luck.

Re: Phyllis (# 2) Expand Referenced Message

Happened to me Phyllis. Was a long road back - walkers, canes, walking poles, finally PT in salt water pool with an excellent therapist - am now walking unaided - but very carefully - I went from 20% balance to 50% - - but I just returned from a jaunt to Iowa, a plane trip - - I made it - - it has been about 5 years post Prolia. There is hope, and also a lot of medical bills - - but there is hope!

Re: Laura (# 209) Expand Referenced Message

Prolia is only supposed to be used when ALL of the others have failed. It's past time our Medical community learns this fact. I hope this info makes up your mind for you. Some people are able to tolerate Prolia when many others cannot. I'm years past one injection and still having problems such as sometimes gluten intolerance and my hair is horrid, shedding like a dog. I lost 68 pounds on Prolia in 2 months, got a cataract, severe gluten intolerance, lost roots to two teeth and had to have implants put in, not to mention the pain and suffering. Prolia is a very dangerous drug.

Re: Poodle (# 213) Expand Referenced Message

I was on fosamx 12 years ago for less than a year. I had aching all over and out of breathe. My doctor didn't believe me but when I went off all of the symptoms disappeared. Two years ago I started prolia and I had my fourth shot in december 2017. I had all over pain in my joints, muscles and bones. My current doctor agreed I should discontinue the prolia. In January I started taking hemp cbd oil twice a day and each week there was a gradual improvement. The past two weeks I feel so much better I am able to lift things , work in the garden, sleep better and do my yard work without hurting. I am going to continue the hemp cbd oil and not any osteoporosis meds.

I use Charlotte's Web CBD oil everyday. I buy from a local pharmacy and it is over the counter and has no THC high. Good luck.
