I can't take any of the drugs for osteoporosis. After learning what they do, I'm thinking it's a blessing in disguise.

Hugs to all!

Re: Vickie (# 167) Expand Referenced Message

I took the one and only shot in may 2016. I thought it was going to kill me. Never had a broken bone of any kind in my life. In November 2017 I had a fractured back. I know without a doubt it was from the Prolia.

Re: Vickie (# 177) Expand Referenced Message

Vickie, I apologize for my reaction. As I'm sure, you and all of these people understand, that trying to find something to help is very stressful, but I am truly sorry that I let my emotions get the best of me. My GP diagnosed me with Polymyalgia Rheumatica, and the only treatment that really helps is Prednisone. I absolutely HATE having to take it, but I was so desperate, and wondered if anyone had experienced positive outcomes taking prednisone for adverse reactions other than rashes. My doctor did tell me that the Prolia shouldn't be causing such side effects, but she did do a lot of lab work and referred me to a rheumatologist. He is slowly tapering the Prednisone. He said that he feels my symptoms are related to Prolia. The Prednisone has helped the pain TREMENDOUSLY. He said only if the pain comes back with a vengeance, while tapering off the Prednisone, would he consider a diagnosis of Polymyagia Rheumatica. All the lab work was normal. Wishing ALL healing,

Yes I had two shots and had to discontinue. I have shortness of breath and it won't go away. Have been to pulmonary doctor, heart doctor and no answers. It has been over two years since the last shot and no improvement.

Re: Giralda (# 176) Expand Referenced Message

I did a Google search and found this information for you. If it doesn't describe what you need, you'll need to do a Google search and place what you specifically need in the browser. I hope you find the information you need. If I were you I would be very, very careful about what I take. My Dad had kidney issues. Because his kidneys didn't work well and then when he had dialysis, the medication he was on went through his system differently/at a different rate than those of us who didn't have kidney issues.
Something for you to consider and speak to a qualified and non-biased medical professional about.

Has anyone else developed a macular hole in the eye after Prolia?

I was just reading the updated warnings by the FDA and Amgen dated 1/31/2018. I'm convinced they know about these problems, even our last visit to the Doctor convinced me of this. My wife over a year ago suffered a fractured Sacrum....Within 3 months they put her on Fosamax, then May of 2017 the Prolia. With all the other stuff from this drug she still had pain in the lower back. This week an MRI showed her Sacrum was not healing, which perplexed her Ortho.....well...well, well, now to read the new warnings and side effects this drug is suspect of preventing "bone remodeling" what's that? Ha, if you have an existing fracture, this Prolia prevents the fracture from healing! The Dr. who gave her this shot knew of the fracture but we never discussed this issue.

The doctor is now saying after looking at the x-rays that it is probably tendonitis and/or bursitis.
Does anyone else have any of these issues? I'm trying not to blame everything on the Prolia but with so many health issues, it can be a bit hard.

Am having eye surgery to repair a macular hole in my R eye. Left one will be done as it progresses... gel I eye dries up and gets sticky and pulls a hole in ones retina. I’ve had rapid vision loss and have a hole now. Prolia affected all my membranes significantly drying them out- dry eyes, vagina dryness and atrophy, nasal cavity, skin, mouth, nails, hair... and more... anyone have eye issues develop after Prolia? I have macular hole... anyone? Having surgery today hoping it’s not too soon and can heal normally...

Re: Janet (# 192) Expand Referenced Message

Yes I have but I don't think it is related to Prolia at all. I had what is called a macular pucker because as we get older the fluid in your eyes starts to leave. Mine got stuck and was pulling on my macula which is the center of the retina. I have the same thing happening in the other eye but it is not affecting my vision because its pulling from the side. It will require surgery about the middle of this coming August. I believe mine to be from age and at one time quite myopic. My surgeon who is one of the most respected in the western US has never thought it to be from a drug. I don't think I am much help to you in this regard. be well~

Janet - I think they can use an endo laser to close that hole up. That's what mine uses on all retina tears regardless of position. Be well~

I really wonder if hair and nails ever recover. Mine is still shedding years after at an unprecedented rate and my nails look horrid. I know I am getting what they need in the way of nutrition but it seems as if Prolia kills the hair follicles and therefore no new hair can grow back in. We have a lady in the UK on another thread here that has given up and bought a nice wig. To say that Prolia is the devil's drug is to give it a compliment IMHO. If your hair follicles are still alive, I posted a remedy that works on that specific thread here. If they are dead, nothing can revive them. Only a Dermatologist can give you that answer. Be well~

Re: Janet (# 192) Expand Referenced Message

Yes Janet, I have serious eye problems that I'm positive are related to Prolia as I never had them before. My first and only Prolia injection was 10 and a half months ago and my eye problems began shortly after and getting worse. I have an appointment on Friday to see an Ophthalmologist. The crystalline in both my eyes seem to be swollen as if I had a tiny, inflated bag on top of them... The visual field is clearly reduced. I will continue to research the damage this drug causes. Get well, all of you...

I'm just sick about my hair falling out. I'm about to make an appointment with a dermatologist and will see if I can get any helpful information while I am there. If I learn of anything helpful I will pass it on.

Hugs to all!

Re: Nikki (# 191) Expand Referenced Message

We have had numerous ladies with bad tendon problems. They are in a different thread. One involves both tendons on one shoulder and another got a lump on the bone near hers and surgery required an Eye, Nose, Throat surgeon as well as a Cardio surgeon as well as a 'surgeon'. This is really a good medication that wasn't. To think they sent mice into space to test this poison. Personally, I think we are still the guinea pigs in this non-ending puzzle. Bursitis is no biggie. A quick shot of Pred. in that bursa gets it well in a flash. Our bodies have many bursa in them. Be well~

Can anyone tell me if the horrible side effects of Prolia ever leave your body? Mine are still there and my last shot was 2015. I had another dizzy spell today and another bad fall today, this is my fourth fall. Never had falls or dizzy spells before Prolia.

Post macular hole surgery 9 days. Healing slower than typical case, but Today hole was finally showing improvement. Also double vision a bit improved and motion sickness still effected by eye and movement... thank you for everyone’s response... dry eye still a concern, macular pucker in other eye and will watch it ... happpy to get clearance to walk upright and sit up... no more down facing! Wether Prolia related or not, my poor Bidy is exhausted and I’m tired of being tired and sick and aches. Looking forward to healthier days... hugs...?
