Procedure For Stopping Eliquis And Going Back To Aspirin (Page 8) (Top voted first)
UpdatedAlmost five months after stopping ELIQUIS and began 325 MG Bayer. I understand the difference between a blood thinner and anti-clotting meds. Again only follow your Doctor's instruction. I am doing fine and enjoying saving money.
Re: JAZZZY (# 120)
I can not follow my doctors instructions for being removed from Eliquis as there are none. My heart is strong but I should not take Asprin. Does anyone know if you can just reduce the dose and come off of this pill safely. I take 5mgs, 2 X Daily. How many days, weeks, or months should I reduce the dose before I can safely be off of Eliquis

I have responded before but after a trip to ER was he to my 2nd unstoppable nose bleed I stopped Eliquis with the doctor dose. I take a baby aspirin plus fish oil etc. I do split one pill at night. Have not had another nose bleed or the threat of one. My pulse is 63 and my Afib is quiet? Follow your doctor of course but I did not. Riding in an ambulance to the ER with a nose bleed was the end for me.
Re: JAZZZY (# 120)
You are hereby given an A+. This is indeed a great post. You learn of other people's issues and with this knowledge make changes to your own life. Once you make the changes; the knowledge becomes wisdom. Each case is different.
Know it, understand it and own it. By the by there is a product called NO SALT out there that my doctor has approved for me.
All my best and keep it up.
Re: Marty (# 9)
Yes. I have been taking eliquis for 4 months and have terrible joint pain and stiffness. I now also have pelvic pain... Has anyone else had the pelvic pain? Also have trouble sleeping. Had blood in urine, too.
Re: Tim Bower (# 138)
THANK YOU so much for sharing your story. My Afib is silent too, so I am taking Krill Oil and 800 mgs of Natural Vitamin E. I have be successful in doing this for over a week now without any problem. My hip and shoulders are slowly getting better and I can walk now. I hope you will contact the FDA and report your reactions to Eliquis.
Re: Pat (# 135)
I told my cardiologist about the pain I started having with Eliquist and he said to stop and go back to 325 mg asperin.
It was stop cold turkey and I have no problem from doing that. Still have some joint pain but slowly getting better. I can feel the results.
Does anyone know if your joint pain will stop after you stop taking Eliquis? I am hoping that my pain will cease and my joints will return to normal. I pray hope these side effects are not permanent.
Pat (# 144) --
Mine is better but not all at once. Give it some time and I bet it gets better.
Re: Peter (# 11)
What was the result when you came off?
Did all side effects go away and you return to normal?
Re: Marty (# 9)
I would love to part of this l stopped taking eliquis yesterday feeling better already. My concern is do I take 80mg of aspirin or 325
Re: Twilight (# 140)
I'm happy to say this Tues. 6/26/18, I will have been off of Eliquis for 4 weeks. I was on this drug for 7 months and I was in horrible pain in my hips and shoulders. No one would help (as usual) all they wanted to do was discuss hip surgery. I was ready for a wheel chair, so I started cutting the 5mg pill in half. I took half a pill twice a day for 3 weeks and then I just stopped completely 4 weeks ago. This past Monday, 6/18/18 my hip pain disappeared. It's Saturday and I'm 99% pain free. Mind you I no longer have Afib, but I did start taking 800mg of Natural Vitamin E. I wish you luck/success in finding your path to becoming Eliquis Free, as I believe this pill should be removed from the market, it's poison.
Marty, To answer your concern; I would consult your Cardiologist. Pretty sure he/she would recommend 325 over 81. The 325 is an excellent blood thinner. I was Eliquis since it's inception. It helped me guard against clots which could lead to possible stroke. As my A-Fib to the most part has subsided; my Cardiologist put me on the Bayer 325 and I feel great. Best of luck.
I have been taking Eliquis for ten days, 5mg twice daily. I have a DVT in my lower left leg. The doctor insists I keep taking 100 mg aspirin daily also as I have done for many years. I am 73 and very concerned about internal bleeding. Has anybody else taken both?
Is it ok to visit dentist while on Eliquis and aspirin? Also what about vaccinations, etc.?
EME You absolutely must follow your doctors advise on these two issues. All cases are different and as such must be dealt with accordingly. Please talk to you doctors about your concerns.
My best.
I am 72 male with active lifestyle. One day woke up with A-flutter. Spent 3 days in Heart Hospital. Drugs didn't help but the Cardioversion did wonders. Normal RHR for one month. No recurrences. My Dr. put me on Eliquis. At $455 a month, cash for the misery it causes, I am ready to offload it out of my life. Combined with the Beta Blocker (have not had high BP b/4) I feel like a walking zombie. All I want to do is sleep. I have to work for a living. Also had a heart cath while in the Hospital. NO--0% blockage in my arteries. My son is a surgeon. One of his cardiology buddies implores his patients to use CPAP if they have it and to Cut back on the alcohol. Going off the devil drugs I have been prescribed beginning slowly, tonight. Skip
,Skip, been there and done what you have described. It really gets down to exactly the amount of alcohol consumption. My cardiologist says I can enjoy two beers maximun on "special occations" and I am greatfull. However if you are pounding every night you will go into afib. As I have said many times; be honest with your cardiologist. That is the only way he/her can help you the best. If your cardio cath reveals no blockages then ask your cardiologist if you can limit alcohol and use 325 MG Bayer Aspirin. Heck of a lot cheaper than Eliquis. Good luck.
Re: Brett (# 88)
Just an update.
Been off Eliquis and Sotalol for almost 1 year now. Only take 1 x 81mg Aspirin per day. Feel sooooo much better. The stroke Dr., even though I was misdiagnosed, still wants me to take them. Lol. Never again. 2 Cardiologists say I don't need it so I will stick with them. :)
Re: John (# 154)
My cardiologist says 2 drinks a night. I was not in Afib, but Atriel Flutter Thanks.
Re: Skip (# 156)
Skip, Atrial Flutter is AFIB just as a Chevy and a Buick is a GMC product. Like I said honesty is the best policy as you can only hurt yourself. AFIB, FLUTTER or any electrical heart issue does not mesh well with too much alcohol.
Your choice. I wish you nothing but the best.,
