I hope you didn't take them. Sotalol and Eliquis really messed me up for several months. I was misdiagnosed with a stroke and afib and put on the drugs. No one wanted to take me off either as they were afraid of the results. Long story short, I'm off the drugs and feeling much better.

There is another way to look at your situation that is very favorable: a) you dodged an issue that is often fatal for some and, b) many of us have had blood clots in both lungs when we have had them.
Eliquis is not necessarily a "forever" type of medication. Your medical team may decide you can discontinue in due course. My vascular surgeon was right with me in my intention to get off, but then my behavior (sitting for long periods in front of a computer) induced the return of the DVT in my leg. He advised that with the second blood clot within 2 years he was not at all inclined to take me off any time soon. It appears blood clots can be removed surgically, but the trick is to identify the underlying cause or it may well just be a recurring event.
My recommendation: stay positive, keep testing your medical professionals and if necessary get multiple "second" opinions.
Good luck.

I just found out two weeks ago that I had a blood clot in my right lung and they put me on Eliquis to I feel like I’ve been handed a death I thought once they gave you but then in shots in your stomach that that was the end of it and that you could just go home and take an aspirin but I guess not I don’t feel right taking these drugs I don’t sleep at night I wake up five times to make sure I’m still alive think I’m a little depressed about this whole thing

The doctor who supplied the blood thinner is the only one who can give you a valid answer to your questions. That is because while the posters here are sincere, we all have different circumstances. Your doctor is the only one who knows your medical requirements. Tell the doctor you are uninsured and would like to know what options are available to you

Hi, I forgot to add 2 other things that happened while I was taking Eliquis. I was literally freezing all the time - even when it was 90 degrees outside I was so cold. The first thing I noticed on the first day without Eliquis was I felt a normal warmth again. Also, I never had a bleed but I bruised easily & the mark that it left took longer to heal & disappear. I’ve had no problem so far in starting on a baby aspirin.

Just left the doctor's office 20 minutes ago after my three-month follow up after a successful ablation
(two previous cardio versions failed). Doc gave me go ahead to get off Eliquis and on to a baby aspirin.

Lost 45 lbs., changed my diet, and walk 40 minutes per day in addition to diligently using my CPAP each night (sleep apnea was diagnosed one month after a AFIB!). Doc said to keep doing what I'm doing to maintain sinus rhythm.

Feeling better already! Keep the faith, everyone, and hang in there. It was a long 10-month journey for me.

Hi, I was put on Eliquis after finding a very small clot in a lung. Didn’t have any Afib. Had some insomnia while on it but no mood changes. I was on it for little more than 3 months. I called my vascular doctor about getting off of it after being told In the hospital that I was to take it for 3 months. My primary care doctor wanted me to stay on it for 6 months. The vascular doctor took me off of it & put me on a baby aspirin every day. All this happened about a week ago but I’ve noticed that I really feel fatigued some days - is this normal or common after stopping it?

I feel the same way! I insisted they take me off of those rat poison ! Took it for a year! I now take 2 low dose aspirin once a day and fish oil capsule twice a day. No problems! It's all about money. Would never take it again.

Have been on Eliquis for about a month and have had two bad nosebleeds at work in which one of those they I had to go to an emergency room because it wouldn’t stop. Have a cardio version scheduled but I have to get of Eliquis at some point. Can’t live with the scare of terrible nosebleeds on a daily basis

Re: David (# 1) Expand Referenced Message
My doc is promoting eliquis and gave me no choices. Stupidly I started taking it until I found out how much it costs. Fixed income. They of course do not want to take me off of it. They either do it or I will go to the med association.
I have had afib for 5-6 rs now. I firmly believe taking a high powered aspirin would be just as good. Just want to get feed back. I feel like they are taking advantage of the condition. MONEY MAKER.

I went to the doctor after being on Eliquis for 3 months only to find out that I have chronic DVT. The Eliquis didn't dissolve it at all. It is still the same size in the same spot. The 3 stents that I have in my stomach help to keep it from going to my heart. I have had the absolute worst side effects...rashes and itching....crazy things popping on my arms from hives. I am scheduled to see a Hematologist Monday. Has this happened to anyone??? I have never felt so horrible with this Eliquis but I wonder what the Hematologist is going to do? Anyone else have this experience?

Re: David (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

My Doc tells me that Eliquis completely metabolizes out of the body in 24 hours, and no "taper off" is needed. Assuming that your Doc is recommending that Eliquis be stopped, just stopping is good. My pulmonary embolisms were caused by air travel, and if I have another, I will be on Eliquis permanently. But, with Doc approval I have now stopped.

Margaret: I am 64 years old and had a blood clot form in my jugular vein 5 months ago with no known origin. This is the first time I have had this and I don't have atrial fib or other heart problems. Because I inherited Factor V Leiden mutation from both parents my doctor insists I take Eliquis for the rest of my life. It has been a nightmare. I sleep all day, seldom get out of bed, have brain fog, cannot attend family outings, have skin rash, hand swelling and numbness. My doctor refuses to switch me to Warfarin, says it is not as good as Eliquis. I am very frustrated!
