Problem's With Medication

I'm unable to fill Dilaudid 8mg script. I have never had a problem until today. Walgreen's has always taken care of all my meds, I have stage 4 cancer, and it's been the only one I've been on that helps the pain, but doesn't knock me out. And trust me when I say I have tried them all. I'm in Brevard county, and all I have is a little paper, someone please PLEASE HELP me out, I'm 45 and do tied. {edited for privacy}

Hello, Dra! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having.

We have reached the time of year when shortages usually occur for controlled substances due to mandatory manufacturing limits. Once a manufacturer has reached their maximum amount, they can not manufacture new product, until the new year.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

One idea would be to see if they have another dosage available, perhaps the 4mg and then speak to your doctor about prescribing it for you that you just take 2 of them. Since you have cancer, the new restrictions that were put in place for prescribing limits do not apply to you.

Does anyone else have any ideas?
