Pristiq With Alprazolam

Is anyone taking these 2 medications together? I am new to all of this, was put on alprazolam for anxiety, and just started on 50mg pristiq last night. Was told to increase to 100mg after 1 week, then try alprazolam only when I feel I need it. Has anyone else used it like this. I don't usually have any medications at all, but had a rough year last year I don't think I faced, and was sent for an mri before shoulder surgery 5 weeks ago, and this has really triggered something !! Could not have it done. So now I am going on a cruise in 7 days, and feeling quite anxious about it still. There are so many conflicting stories!

My findings state that there are in fact moderately unsafe interactions between these two drugs. Quoted below are the precautions you should be aware of:

"Using Alprazolam together with desvenlafaxine may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience some impairment in thinking and judgment. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with these medications. Avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medications affect you. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor."

I imagine that if you only take these medications as prescribed, you should be just fine. Everyone reacts differently to medication though, so it's impossible to know for sure. Are you experiencing any negative side effects from the pristine and Alprazolam?

I don't feel like I have any side effects , feeling the best I have felt in a long time. Worried about altering dosage before going on the cruise in 2 days. Still have some of the breathlessness but not near as bad!! I need to find out if I go to 100mg of pristiq and only use the alprazolam as needed, is that for all three doses?? Or was it just meant to be the night dose when I take the pristiq? All of this is new to me, thank you for replying.
