Pristiq Causing Episodes Of Anger

I was on 50mg Pristiq and didn't realise I was having anger issues on days I forgot to take it. I was only on it due to injuries stopping me from working and suffering from pain and financial issues. It broke up my relationship. After the break up I went up to 100mg. After some months I started to space out/blackout in the afternoon on days I forgot to take it. I always took it at 7am. Well my partner and I had gotten back together and it happened a couple of times in the 4 or 5 weeks we were back together. The 3rd time was the only time I had alcohol the day I'd forgotten to take the Pristiq and I had a violent episode. My life is in ruin and no one is listening. They think I was just drunk. Violence was not normal behaviour for me but drinking half a bottle of bourbon was. I only registered .11 BAC. It was only just over 1 drink an hour. Total 6 to 8 drinks. So I hadn't drunk enough to lose it so bad and not remember. Also after that, I dropped back to 50mg and realised that the days I forgot it, I had anger issues. Before this, I had just assumed it was life getting the better of me. Now I know it was the Pristiq. Looking for others who have had the same experience.

I am very sorry about what you have experienced.

However, the NIH does warn that you should not drink alcohol with this medication, because while you may think you aren't drinking a lot, it can really worsen the side effects, so you may experience far more issues than usual, including nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, and irritability.

The best way I can explain it to people is to say that your 6 to 8 drinks affected you as if you had 12 to 16.

Forgetting to take it would only aggravate the issue due to withdrawal symptoms.

Yes I had seen to avoid alcohol. But I had drunk regularly during the years taking Pristiq with no problems on the 50mg. I went straight to my doctor and started on 50mg again to ween off the Pristiq. During that time I had severe anger on the days I forgot to take them. When I went to a tablet every second day I just didnt go anywhere on the days I didnt take it. I am still depressed but it is due to life not mental illness or chemical imbalance. I dont take much in the way of pain killers anymore either and although still depressed I am much clearer in the head even though I struggle to function day to day. I have seen many people saying they have improved their lives a lot so Im trying to say they are evil and need to go. Just that they arent for everyone.
