Pristiq Night Sweats

Hi all, I have been on Pristiq for 5+ years. Soon after I began, I started dealing with night sweats. Not just mild sweat - I'm talking my PJs and sheets are drenched. It is awful! The night sweats have come and go over the years but are currently very bad. I can't seem to get much information on the internet about this side effect being an issue for many people. Has anyone else experienced night sweats from taking Pristiq?

Hi Erin,

According to the manufacturer, sweating is actually one of the most common side effects people experience from taking Pristiq (Desvenlafaxine).

However, nih.gov happens to list "sweating" as both a 'general' and 'serious' side effect here: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a608022.html

Have you already made your doctor aware of this problem?

I'm experiencing night sweats, and they are bad even if I lay down for a nap I have to change my clothes afterwards!
I simply don't understand why the side effects of these medications are so severe. There must be something out there that helps with depression but doesn't kill you in the process

I have been taking Pristiq ER 100 for 7 years before I go to bed and wake up with my hair, clothes and bed soaking wet. I have to use a hair dryer in the morning to dry my hair when I get up! It's disgusting.

Am taking Pristique PLUS Modafinil and Enlyte q.d. - and having AWFUL nightsweats! Drenching nightgowns x3-4 nightly! Getting up to change - drying hair each morning!!
Bound to be a better plan!!

i have been taken pristiq for years for menopause i started menopause at 35 and i am am 59 now and still going through it sometimes i have bad night sweats and during the day i have hot flushes i think the bad nights are from prestiq

I have been on pristiq for 2 years first 50mg and then increased to 100mg. I found 100 mg worked better for me and also allowed my libido to flow more freely if you catch my drift
Night sweats have been the most obvious side effect and at times are just gross waking up drenched like I’ve just had a shower. I often wake frequently through the night but I find cedar wood essential oil and meditation have helped to reduce this. I also find I sweat more during the day compared to before I was on pristiq mostly from the nape of my hair. I have tried to cut back to 50mg but crash within days so 100 is good for me. Besides the sweats I’m happy with pristiq.

Yep - have been on it 100mg for 2 years and have the most annoying night sweats. Wake up drenched and shivering and can’t regulate my body temperature properly.
I’m lucky I have a loving and tolerant boyfriend as I can’t imagine casually dating and sweating all over my partner - would be the worst!
