Has anyone in the US used this yet for colonscopy and what did it cost?
Finally started working around 11:15. Kept on working for the few hours. Still have some darkness but has been liquid.
I took my first dose at 6 p.m. I have been having small BM's all day and tonight but not the liquid. I drank as required. I took my 2nd dose 4 hours later per the instructions and had a Bm. I wish the liquid would start soon I am to arrive at the center @6 am.
My doc gave me a coupon so cost was $40 which I used at Walgreen's.
Thank you so much for that info. I was getting very nervous that it was not working. When I used the other prep it worked very fast. This made me feel so much better.
Update from previous post: bowls were clear and procedure went well. After 5am-8am I would still feel the urge to go but very little would come out. Had to use Vaseline to help as I was having a very painful burn down there. No abdominal pains or diarrhea afterward. Was able to eat a sandwich after procedure with no problems.
I highly recommend the prepopik.
I started my prep at 8pm and have already had multiple movements within 1.5 hours. Haven't even been able to leave the bathroom. I started eating light food 2 days before and clear liquid diet for the past 30 hours prior to taking the first dose of prepopik. It really does seem to work with little abdominal cramping. I have IBS but after a recent c diff infection I became really sick. Colonoscopy is the last stop to see what's wrong! My insurance covered the entire cost and I live in CA.
I will post an update after the procedure.
I used the product and it was so much better then the prep I used for the 2 previous procedures. I was not sick fom it at all , would take this product again! I received a free coupon from my gastro. Dr. .. CVS took it with no problem. Did not cost me a dime.
I started the prep at 2:00 P.M ( according to the Dr. s order). I wished I started the prep at 12:00 as I was still on the toilet until !0:00 that evening. I highly recommend this prep!
I paid $119 after the insurance helped a little and it was worth every penny for me. I diidn't do much ahead other than not eat salads, popcorn, and other heavy fiber foods for a few days. On the day I drank water, black coffee in the morning, gingerale, fat free chicken broth for lunch, ice tea, apple juice, and a little jello. I pretty much drank all day long and didn't really have any trouble with hunger.
I was given an anti nausea drug prescription so filled it because I wasn't sure what it would be like given my first time but really didn't need it. I used it an hour before my first dose which was at 5 p.m. It tasted fine and was no problem to drink for me. It took around 90 mins to start working and went off & on until around 10:30 so I was able to sleep with no problems. No gas or pains at all. My 2nd dose was for 5:15 a.m. and I didn't bother with the pill this time. It worked after about 90 mins again and really wasn't much by this point. I had to drink 3 8oz (it was 5 the night before) glasses of liquids in 1 hour this time because I had to stop drinks 4 hrs before procedure. Everything went smoothly and I'd use Prepopik again.
First colonoscopy in 11 hours, been 7 hours since my first dose and nothing but a bloated gut and a lot of pain. This is pretty bad. I'm planning on calling it off as I know i'm full of s***!
Great stuff, tastes OK and WAY WAY better than the last time when I had to drink about a gallon of nastiness. This was a walk in the park compared to last time and for me it worked fast...45 min. Thumbs up!! And well worth the cost and much lower aggravation vs last time
Update: it started working after 7 hours. I guess it works slower for some than others. I am still keeping my fingers crossed that I am good for tomorrows afternoon scope. As far as the Prepopik is concerned the taste and amount are good. I have talked to many people who said other preps were awful and to much to get down. This one is only 2 5ounces servings around 6 hours apart. Not bad. And so far not to much abdominal pain/cramping but it would depend on your underlying medical condition regarding how bad the cramping/bloating/pain is.
My GI doc gave me a $40 coupon for Preppie (not copay). So I only paid $40 out of pocket whereas if they ran it through my insurance my insurance would have paid $158.00.
As far as prep goes, this is my first time so I have no prior comparison. I am nervous right now because I have done the 2 doses and nothing yet 6 hours later after the 1st dose. I am more prone to constipation so wonder if this has any bearing. I did drink lots of fluids 2 days prior to starting so no headache, nausea, vomiting as of yet. I just wish the prep would start working so I could get some sleep and be assured I will okay for procedure tomorrow. I agree it is easy to drink and I haven't had any issues with it except I haven't been going to the bathroom except to urinate cause I am drinking so much water.
I have a colonoscopy today. I'm 41 and this is my 4th one. Prepopik to me was nasty tasting, almost vomited immediately and had stomach pain that felt like I was being stabbed. My body started to clean itself out about an hour later but only for a short time. This morning I took my second dose, same thing. I'm not cleansed out for sure and going in, in 2 hours for exam. Although I really hated the jug stuff, it worked for me as I know by the end of the prep I knew my dr could be thorough in the exam.
I just had my 3rd Colonoscopy in 20 years. I must say the prepopkic was the easiest prep out of them all. After the 2nd Endoscopy I was very hesitant to go for the 3rd.but was told by my gastrointestinal Dr.
that this prep was a lot easier to take and with less drinking of fluids. He was right! It was a breeze getting through the procedure.
I was given a coupon for propopik from my gastro Dr. CVS Pharmacy excepted it.
I hope this helps decide on going through the procedure.
Had my first colonoscopy this morning and used the split dose Prepopik as the prep. ($96 at my local pharmacy). It was SO much easier than I was expecting/dreading! Took the first dose at 6pm and the 2nd at 2am for an 8:15am procedure. I'm a post-menopausal 59 year old female, with irregular bowel habits to begin with, and it took at least 4.5 hours for the first dose to start working. I was beginning to worry that it wasn't going to kick in at all, but it finally did. I experienced none of the cramping or abdominal pain mentioned by some - the mix was easy to tolerate (although I did hear another patient this morning saying she couldn't keep the 2nd dose down). The flavor is a mild orange, with no weird aftertaste. For any future colonoscopies I would definitely use Prepopik again, but would switch to soft white foods 2 days prior, then clear liquids only 1 day prior. I think this would make the cleanse even easier.
I got a free coupon from my gastr. Dr. I heard it's like $90.00 to buy. Best prep for a colonoscopy i have tried..this is my 3rd colonoscopy, other 2 preps were awful. This prep was the best.
i took mine this afternoon.. it started to work within an hour.. my colonoscopy appointment got CHANGED! so I am not taking the second dose. I am afraid to go to sleep for fear of an accident. I cannot imagine NEEDING a second dose. this is pretty brutal.
I took my first pack at 2pm today and nothing happened for three hours. I have barely gone since then. It tasted good and no discomfort but I am afraid it won't work. I am thinking of taking the second pack a little early.
I took my first does at noon today for my colonoscopy tomorrow at 10 am. . It start d working I about an hour. First.. I have trouble taking liquid mess ( Ick!) so my dr said this one taste a bit like tang. He was right. I really had no problem taking it. I have had a lot of bloating and painful painful cramping. Not looking forward to does 2 at 10 pm. I think I am likely cleaned out now.. No idea how does two could take out more. Still. As far as ease in drinking this.. It was no problem..
I took the first 5oz. Prepopik 2hrs. ago.. instantly felt nauseated. Awful after taste...dreading the 2nd dose. Feeling bloated as I am not much of a water drinker. Got to get through this..need to get checked out in the morning.
